Chiredzi Town Council has begun implementing its water
conveyance system starting with Ward 8 Makondo Location and Ward 5 Magwaza
suburb using the $300 000 obtained from the Public Sector Investment Programme

Chiredzi Town Council is currently pumping 10 mega litres
of water per day but a mere four mega litres reaches households and businesses
while the rest gets lost along the way.

“We have now begun implementing hanging projects with
the first move being connecting Makondo to the line which goes directly to
Chigarapasi. After completing that, we will then connect Magwaza and I think we
will have a huge improvement in terms of water supply to all residents,” said
Hwende.

Hwende also said council had already connected
Shineplus to a direct line thereby normalising water supply to the new low
density residential area.

The new council which came into office last year has
received some credit from residents who have been noticed a substantial
