CHIVI – Traditional leaders in Chivi say are preparing to host recently-elected President Emmerson Munangagwa who is expected to visit the district soon.
A number of traditional leaders who spoke to TellZim News said they were told that Mnangagwa will come to celebrate his election victory with them.
"Yes, it is true that the President is coming but only after we are ready and have advised him to that effect. The President has ancestral connections to this district; he belongs to the Murambwi clan," said one chief.
The leaders said at the moment, preparations including the brewing of traditional beer were underway with all village heads contributing the requirements.
They said one of Mnangagwa’s stopovers will be Matsveru village, less than 10 kilometres from Chivi growth point, where he will meet villagers.
A month before before Operation Restore Legacy last year, Nehoreka, a spirit medium of the Murambwi clan, is said to have held rituals at Headman Matsveru's homestead where he predicted that Mnangagwa was about to rise to become President.
It was recently announced that Mangagwa had lined up rallies to thank the people who voted for him in the July 30 harmonised elections.local
