MWENEZI – Just like former first lady Grace Mugabe attacked the South African model Gabriella Engels with an electric cable, a copy-cat Mwenezi woman had no immunity and was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment after leaving a seven year old step daughter nursing injuries from an electric cable assault.
Linnette Dovi (25) of Zvihwa village 2 under Chief Negari pleaded guilty to two counts of physical abuse when she appeared before magistrate Honest Musiiwa.
For the two counts, Dovi was sentenced to 20 months behind bars of which 8 months were conditionally suspended.
The remaining 12 months were set aside on condition that she performs 420 hours of community service at Negari Clinic.
The state case as presented by Angelinah Makonyah was that on two consecutive days, May 21 and 22 this year, Dovi assaulted her step daughter accusing her of coming home from school late and being disrespectful.
Dovi assaulted her step daughter with an electric cable all over her body causing her bodily harm.
After the assault, Dovi threatened the girl not to tell anyone.
The little girl went to school and told the headmaster about the assault and the school filed a police report leading to Dovi’s arrest.
After noticing that the medical report produced in court showed a possibility of permanent injuries and a danger to the life of the minor, magistrate Musiiwa recommended that the Social Welfare probation officer further investigates how Dovi and the minor are residing.crime
