A man from Masvingo left the court speechless after he told the Magistrate that he stole a water tank to sell and get money to buy preparation for his heavily pregnant wife when he appeared before magistrate Isaac Chikura on charges of theft.
The accused Ernest Chamisa (24) was convicted of the charge and will do community service on August 15, 2024.
The state led by Nobukhosi Moyo told the court that on June 11, Chamisa went to the complainant’s homestead in Victoria Ranch and took a 1000 litres water tank which is worthy US$80.
He sold the water tank to Inock Mutoperesu who is into brick moulding. On August 12, the complainant Roy Farai Sanzvenga discovered his tank and reported to the police.
However, in his defence Chamisa said he took a water tank on the road side from his way home.
“I took the water tank on the roadside and sold it since my pregnant wife was due, I had to buy preparation,” said Chamisa
