Masvingo – The National Transitional Justice Working Group Zimbabwe (NTJWGZ) has expressed that national institutional reforms are imminent reflecting the need to foster equal opportunities for all political sides.
Speaking ahead of a public meeting to be held in Masvingo at the Charles Austin Theatre on October 21, 2016, NTJWGZ Thematic Leader on Institutional Reforms, Tony Reeler urged locals to attend the meeting to hear their leader’s views.
“Many state institutions in Zimbabwe are not genuinely independent. The constitution is clear that these institutions must be non-partisan. The current problem is that these institutions are aligned to one party,” Reeler said.
“For example, the police often breach constitutional clauses as well as its Police Act by failing to be neutral. The same situation is even visible with our leaders who are used to campaign and force people to supporting a political party. Such issues are among the issues to be discussed by panelists coming for our public meeting and it is important that residents come and participate in such events so that they make decisions from an informed point of view,” he added.
The meeting is organized by NTJWGZ in conjunction with TellZim News. news
