The
Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) in Masvingo says it will soon start offering
soccer coaching courses for level 1 and 2 at Victoria High School in order to
improve best practice and standards in the game.
Speaking
to TellZim News recently, Zifa Masvingo provincial class coordinator Cleopatra Matinure
said the organisation was committed to make the programme a roaring success.
She
said Level 1 course will be held from September 16 – 17 September,
with beneficiaries required to pay $260. The Level 2 course will be held on
September 23-30 at a cost of $300 per every participant.
She
also said that they were targeting teachers who are coaching soccer in schools
and others who are passionate about improving their skills.
“We
have seen it important to train our coaches in the province and we are
targeting teachers who are in charge of their schools’ football teams.
Universities, colleges and other members who are passionate about football are
also being encouraged to visit Zifa offices and register for the project so
that they do not miss this good chance,” said Matinure.
Matinure
also highlighted that the courses were inclusive and particularly cared about
encouraging women to take up the opportunity and fight the heavy gender
imbalances in football coaching.
“We
want women to participate in these courses so that we can move towards gender
equality in football. The game is not for men only and we want women to acquire
top positions in professional football coaching,” she said.
