MASVINGO – The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) National Youth boss Happymore ‘Cde Bvondo’ Chidziva was last week arrested and charged with incitement and treason after surrendering himself at Masvingo Central police station.
He was however released the same day as police claim that they want to do further investigations.
Chidziva was on police wanted list for over two months before finally handing himself to the police after reportedly evading them for that long.
He is alleged to have incited people in Gutu to grab food aid which he claimed was being distributed by the government along partisan lines with opposition sympathisers being left out.
The treason charge stems from a youth meeting he addressed in Chiredzi last month where he allegedly threatened to remove President Robert Mugabe from power by force.
A defiant Chidziva told TellZim News that police were just being used by Zanu PF to derail the ‘train of change’ which he said has already taken off.
“I heard the Masvingo police were looking for me and I decided to pay them a visit to clarify the matter. They levelled atrocious charges against me but all in bad taste.
“Zanu PF is trying to use all apparatus at its disposal to slow us down from mobilising the masses. They think if they have me arrested, I will get intimidated and stop my job of making sure that president Morgan Tsvangirai takes his rightful position at State house. They can slow the process but never stop us.
“We will never remove Mugabe from power by force. We mobilise people to register and vote; it is the force of their votes which will send Mugabe packing. I guess they may have misconstrued that part. They even released me because they had no genuine case against me,” said Chidziva.news
