20 March 2017, MWENEZI – As the days for the Mwenezi East by-election draw closer, the electorate may want to know more about the candidates who will battle it out to win the right to represent the constituency in the National Assembly.
Below is a brief profile of the Free Zimbabwe Congress (FZC) candidate, Turner Muhango.
A father to four children, Muhango was born and bred in Mwenezi. He was born at Matibi Mission Hospital on May 16, 1978.
He did his primary education at Masogwe Primary School before proceeding to Mwenezi Government High School where he did his ‘O’ Levels. He is a holder of a diploma in education from Morgenster Teachers College.
Muhango taught at Matande Primary school before transferring to Masogwe Primary School where he is currently teaching a Grade Three class. Last year, Muhango taught a Grade Seven class which recorded a 51 percent pass rate.
He joined active politics soon after the formation of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in 1999, occupying the position of youth district treasury until towards 2013.
Although Muhango remained in the MDC-T after the 2005 split, subsequent disagreements in the party disillusioned him and he decided to quit the party during a restructuring exercise ahead of the 2013 harmonised elections.
After ditching MDC-T, he made a comeback to active politics in February this year under the FZC banner.
Muhango is a gifted, self-taught DStv installer who realised his talent in 2007 and went on to form his own company, View World Installations.politics, topnews
