Own Correspondent

19 Feb 2017 – Newly-promoted Eastern Region Division One outfit, FC Mucheke Pirates, has elected a new executive board to lead the club in this year’s league race which is expected to start next month.
Mucheke Pirates spokesperson, Godfrey Mtimba said the club came up with a vibrant executive made up of members from diverse professional backgrounds but with profound interest in football administration.
Mtimba was speaking at a special Annual General Meeting held in the city last week.
“A special, meeting held by the club last week put into thrust a vibrant executive that is set to steer the ship as we navigate the murky waters of the Division One soccer league. This is a young but very ambitious outfit that is set to establish itself well in the league and we have respectable gentlemen with a great passion in the game who are ready to lead the youngsters,” said Mtimba.
Prominent Masvingo businessman, Taguma Mazarire was appointed team patron while veteran football administrator and prominent local Legal Practitioner, Phillip Shumba was appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the club.
The executive board will be led by Roman Catholic Church priest, Fr Raymond Mahefu who landed the chairmanship position.
He will be deputised by Andrew Ushe who has been in the football administration for a very long time.
A local lawyer, Omen Mafa was elected secretary and will be deputised by Givewell Munyaradzi a Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) lecturer.
Johannes Ruvengo, another legal practitioner, is the treasurer.
Senior educationist and a bulbous director of ceremonies for high profile events, David Masomere and Hardlife Piki are the entertainment managers.
Solani Hlomulo; a local retail shop manager, Joyman Ruvando and Takesure Hlupo; both GZU lecturers, are the new marketing managers.
Mapako, Amos Chuma and Munyaradzi Shonhiwa are the transport managers while Simbarashe Mabwazara is the chief cashier.
Committee Members are Gift Muzenda, Ringi Nyahunda, and Munyaradzi Ndichineyi.
Ruvengo and Maboke Legal Practitioners, led by Advocate Collen Maboke were named the club lawyers.
