MASVINGO – Rumbidzai Mudenge (pictured), daughter to late educationist and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stan Mudenge, launched her own entertainment company, Bumris Entertainment at a colorful gig dubbed ‘Summer Jump Off’ at Liquids International Bar in Masvingo recently.
Rumbidzai told TellZim News that she was looking forward to bring international artists to small towns like Masvingo.
“My company wants to have only quality shows and, in the near future, television production. We will also support local and international artists. We will specifically throw events for artistes in places where they can interact and share ideas and where artistic freedom can be explored and nurtured.
“I also intend to support all forms of art ranging from poetry readings, sculpture, dance, film and theatre. Through Bumris Entertainment, international artists will also visit small towns so as to decentralise the arts from Harare,” she said.
After the well-attended launch, Mudenge said she has a challenge to work even harder to bring more shows under the Bumris Entertainment banner.
A Theatre Arts and Film graduate, the youthful director says she is not worried of losses promoters usually suffer and said it requires only hard work.
“As a woman who has just entered into this business, I am very proud and humbled by the overwhelming support I got from the people of Masvingo. This has motivated me to work harder and come up with something better in the future. This business has many huge risks so losses may come but I will soldier on.
“I also intend to keep the artists we will engage happy by sticking to agreements and paying them well. It is my principle that people should receive their dues. As an artist myself I have also faced problems in cases where you do long hours for a television show or event but later struggle to get your contractual dues.
“It is frustrating and unfair when people do not hold up their end of the bargain. As Bumris Entertainment we want every artist and staff member to be treated with respect and to be well catered for,” she added.news
