Ndarama High School has added more glamour to its name by winning several awards at the Masvingo District Merit Awards for the year 2017 which were held at Better Schools Programme Zimbabwe (BSPZ) offices last week.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education honoured more than 20 schools for their achievements in the past year.
It was, however, Ndarama High pupils and teachers who stole the show by winning more than 40 awards in the ‘O’ and ‘A’ level categories.
The school won the Best Urban School award, Best ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Results award in the urban day school category and the Outstanding Overall High School award among others.
Former Ndarama pupils Believe Mhanga, Jean Zulu Jean and Sharleen Chikomo walked away with $50 vouchers from BSPZ each for attaining 20 points in the 2017 examinations.
Ndarama High School head, Shirley Makausi was named Best School Head.
Speaking after receiving the prizes, Makausi said the school will continue to work hard so that the momentum does not stop.
“I am overwhelmed but for me, winning means going the extra mile. Our motto as a school is to do better than what we have done so we are going to work extra hard. I am happy with the recognition,” said Makausi.
In the primary schools category, Helen McGhie Primary was named the Outstanding School of the Year, walking away with the District Schools Inspector (DSI) shield and a $500 voucher.
Zishumbe Primary was named Best Satellite School and walked away with a floating trophy and a $500 voucher from Hillthru Enterprises director, Benjaman Mazarire.
