17 Feb 2017 – MUTARE – City of Mutare Mayor Tatenda Nhamarare has released names of prospective candidates that have been shortlisted for the Town Clerk (TC) and Chamber Secretary posts, with successful candidates expected to be in office by March this year.
Speaking to TellZim News, Nhamarare said the names that have been shortlisted for both posts have been submitted to the Local Government Board in the order of how they performed in interviews.
“We have submitted three candidates for the TC’s post and other three for the Chamber Secretary’s post to the Local Government Board and they were shortlisted according to how they performed in interviews,” said Nhamarare.
“We are expecting that by the beginning of March, both positions will have been filled because the process is being finalised,” added Nhamarare.
For the Town Clerk’s position, the names that have been shortlisted are that of current Chegutu Town Clerk; Alex Mandigo, Evelyn Madziire and Rusape Town Secretary; Joshua Maligwa.
Names that were shortlisted for the Chamber Secretary’s post were Cephas Vuta, Tawanda Kanengoni; a legal officer at City of Mutare and Naison Machingauta; the current Chamber Secretary for Bindura Municipality.
The Town Clerk’s post fell vacant after Obert Muzawazi resigned last year over alleged maladministration. Currently Donald Nyatoti is the city’s acting Town Clerk while Maxwell Machaga is the acting Chamber Secretary.local
