Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the case and said they were appealing for assistance to apprehend the suspects.
“I can confirm we received a murder case where a body of a male adult was discovered in Zvishavane.
“We appeal to anyone with information that can help to establish what could have transpired and lead to the arrest of the suspects,” said Mahoko
Circumstances are that a passerby discovered the dead body in a bush near SQ suburbs, Maglass, Zvishavane.
The body was inspected and had two deep cuts on the head and one above the left ear. The body was positively identified by one Jabulani Shumba, a man aged 49 of Maglass Zvishavane, as that of Remember Karera Marovanidze village under Chief Masunda in Zvishavane.
Opening the 2024 legal year in Gweru early this year, High Court Judge, Evangelisto Kabasa bemoaned the increase in murder cases in the Midlands province.
The year 2023 saw Midlands recording a sharp increase in number of murder cases a development which was worrisome to wellbeing of the community, further urging to intensify operations to deal with the loss of innocent life.
“It is noted that, this year about, 18 cases are set to be heard. To note these statistics are not just mere numbers but represent the loss of lives of individuals at the hands of fellow human beings,” said Kabasa.
