CHIVI – Over 100 families in Chivi district’s Ward 11 received food aid from the Salvation Army church at Mhiti Business Centre last week.
The donation included maize grain, beans and cooking oil.
Speaking during the hand over function, Salvation Army’s Major Silvanos Jamela, who is part of the Drought Relief Emergency response team, said they are distributing maize grain to the most affected districts they identified in the country.
“Chivi is one of the most affected districts in the country. As a church we are much concened with the welfare of people; we donate food aid through our registered charity organisation.  We have assisted Tokwe Mkosi victims, sunk boreholes at Chivi Hospital, Madamombe School and Jairos Jiri offices in Zvishavane,” said Major Jamela.
Major Jamela was accompanied by Masvingo Divisional Commander Major Isaac Mhembere, Masvingo Division Public Relations Officer Major Davious Chigwada from Beitbridge Corps, Major Tagwirei Mazuru from Mucheke Corps, Mr Samuel Muzvanya a facilitator from Mucheke Corps and Robson Muchapondwa.
Major Mhembere urged the beneficiaries not to politicise church donations.
Walter Nyambi, ward 11 councillor thanked the Salvation Army church for the donation.religious
