Mwenezi-Zion Christian Church Kumukakuvakafa (ZCCK) led by Bishop Lyphet Matenda-Mugaviri recently received a major boost to its diverse farming projects following the drilling of a borehole courtesy of the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira.
ZCCK which, among other projects runs a thriving orchard and fish farming at its plot at Rinette farm in ward 14 received the borehole on Saturday, August 6, at a handover ceremony presided over by Mwenezi East legislator Master Makope on behalf of Chadzamira.
The church’s leader Bishop Matenda-Mugaviri expressed gratitude over the donation and vowed that the church’s diverse projects whose expansion had been delayed and constantly derailed by erratic water supply is inevitably going to yield remarkable results.
“The donation came at a time when we were desperately in need of it. Our orchard has got over 200 plants and it was very difficult to water the plants since we do not have any other reliable water source.
“Owing to water challenges, we have been finding it difficult to expand some of our projects but given the minister’s helping hand that had been stretched upon us, we are definitely going to embark on one of the lucrative inspiring projects that are going to empower our local women and youth,” said Matenda-Mugaviri.
The optimistic Matenda-Mugaviri added that the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Inter-denomination Indigenous Council of Churches (ZIICC) Apostle Andrew Wutaunashe has also pledged to assist their projects with a solar powered pump and a 5000 litre Jojo tank.
ZCCK which is currently running a vibrant Early Childhood Development (ECD) school which opened its doors early this year at the same plot is also envisioning expanding by opening a primary school at the same venue.
