CHIVI – The Chivi Community Share Ownership Trust has received a boost after Tongaat Hullet poured in money being used to construct a shopping mall at the growth point.
The donation falls in line with the government’s indigenisation programme which the sugar giant has pledged to support with a US$1.5 million cash injection.
Part of the money amounting to US$300 000 has already been released and work at the mall is progressing well.
Chivi assistant District Administrator (DA) Wafios Hlavati said the district has always been at the centre of development in the province and will always be unique in ideas.
“You cannot talk about development without mentioning Chivi. The word Chivi is an abbreviation of Committed Hardworking Innovative Visionary Individuals.
“The shopping mall project is using money provided by Tongaat Hullet and we are confident the project will keep generating money. Investing in buildings is a good move because buildings appreciate value and do not easily depreciate,” said Hlavati.
The ten-roomed shopping mall will house different businesses that will be paying rentals which will be later used to benefit the community.
The Ministry of Youth, led by its Masvingo provincial head John Mbizvo, is overseeing the success of various projects undertaken by all the districts using money availed by Tongaat Hullet.business
