19 Feb 2017 – ZVISHAVANE – Workers at the government complex were treated to a free drama when the Zvishavane Urban Vendors Association (ZUVA) committee stormed into the office of Zvishavane SMEs official, Clarah Makhubalo, accusing her of overlooking them in decision-making matters.
This was after Makubalo had held a private meeting with the Zvishavane Town Council and a representative from Mandava flea market without informing the ZUVA committee.
Efforts to get a comment from Makhubalo were fruitless as she directed all questions to the Chamber of Small to Medium Enterprises stating that she was not allowed to make any comments to the media.
Contacted for comment the Secretary General of the SMEs in Midlands, Bigboy Murenga confirmed the occurrence of the incident but was reluctant to disclose more information saying they were going to address it and come up with a solution.
“The only thing I can say at the moment is that I heard about the issue and I will be engaging the stakeholders to find a solution,” said Murenga.
The committee members were said to have demanded answers to why they were not informed since they are the mother body of all vendors.
When they stormed Makhubalo’s workplace, they demanded her to leave office accusing her of promoting division among the SMEs.
The committee members only left the office after Makhubalo promised to meet with the leadership of the SMEs in Zvishavane and to address ZUVA after the meeting.business
