Gutu Rural District Council (RDC) has highlighted that this year, their focus will be mainly on road maintenance and finishing ongoing projects carried forward from 2021 which are mainly construction of clinics and they expect everything to be completed by year end (2022).
Gutu RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alexander Mutembwa said this year they are going to be working on road maintenance and finishing uncompleted clinics using devolution funds.
“This year we are going to focus on the health sector finishing uncompleted work at Makumbe and Makwirivindi clinics, the blocks and staff houses are complete awaiting to be painted while a solar powered boreholes had already been installed at the health centres.
At Muchekayaora clinic water installation is still in progress, clinic block and two staff houses are complete yet to be painted, and at Mushayavanhu clinic we intend to complete water installation and finish putting ceiling in the staff house as well as painting,” said Mutembwa.
Road maintenance
Mutembwa said quite a number of roads are in a deplorable state as most of them were affected by the rains and need urgent attention.
“Roads which are to be maintained are Gutu junction road which needs final base construction, surfacing and drain construction for about 600 meters, Chihambakwe business road about 3 kilometers which need wedge clearing, motorized grading, drain opening and culvert construction, Ruti irrigation scheme about 6,8 kilometers that needs wedge clearing .Makura-Mutasa road about 11 kilometers, Kaguvi school access about 10 kilometers, Dreifontein road 15 kilometers, Chidembo-Chipangane road 11 kilometers, Mushaviri-Chibakwe road 4,7 kilometers, Guchacha road 12 kilometers, Chatsworth-Zimuto road 4.7 kilometers, Shashe-Wedgion road 15 kilometers,” he said.
He also added that the local authority managed to install solar powered street lights along Gutu junction-Mpandawana bus terminus road to improve visibility as it is the busiest road in the area.
Three solar powered tapped water points were also installed at Makombo grounds, Scomption location and at roof town vegetable market to reduce water problems.
