MASVINGO – Zanu PF is dangling land to its executive members in the province as way of buying loyalty ahead of the much anticipated 2023 general elections.
A number of party executive members have been complaining of neglect from the party saying they were using own resources to do party business.
Speaking during a Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting at Masvingo Polytechnic earlier this week, Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa said the party was going to issue out plots to its members.
“Youth league, there is that issue of your 70 members who should get plots, it emerged that you are going to get 10ha per person, so far you have 15 plots available and they should be distributed equally amongst all the districts, so organize yourself and see the first 15 who are going to benefit and submit names to the ministry of lands.
“They are now busy preparing other plots because there should be 70. What I implore you now is to stop fighting, you have been given a chance with the President. You do partnerships if you do not have equipment to clear the land, ask those from Chiredzi, they know said,” Mavhenyengwa amid claps and ululations from the gallery.
He went on to say the war veterans had their own share on the plots to be released soon and will get their share as spelt out in the constitution.
“War veterans you will get your 20 percent on the land that is coming soon. We pleaded on your behalf for you to get your percentage as enshrined in the constitution, so when you share just make sure that every district benefits.
“We also appealed as a party to get our own plots that we will share amongst members of the main wing because other wings have been covered,” he added.
Mavhenyengwa however warned the executive against absconding party meetings saying there are a number of members who do not attend party meetings but they want to benefit from party programmes.
The Provincial Secretary for Commissariat Brian Munyoro said the party was going on a cell verification programme and said all the 160 joint council members should be present while no one should abscond.
