Trio nabbed for waylaying, robbing villager

Three men from Chivi are facing armed robbery charges after attacking a villager who was coming from a local business center at dusk.

While three members of the robbery gang were arrested, Police in Masvingo are appealing to members of the public to continue supplying information which will lead to the arrest of the rest of the criminals.

“We appeal to members of the public to continue supplying information which can lead to the arrest of the criminals,” police said in a statement.

Circumstances are that on January 25, 2025 Joe Ndaba (32) of Headman Chipindu area in Chivi was on his way home from Chomuruvati Business Centre at around 1900hours when he was waylaid and attacked by Saymore Runhare (23), Brighton Mazo (19) and a male juvenile aged 17, together with their accomplices who are still at large.

The robbers emerged from a bush and ordered Ndaba to lie down, which he resisted and they hit him with a stone on the mouth, leaving his teeth shaking.

One of the robbers then produced a knife and stabbed Ndaba once on the elbow demanding money from him.

The gang proceeded to forcibly search Ndaba, taking USD$60 he had with him, after which they fled the scene.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Runhare, Mazo and the juvenile while their accomplices are still at large.
