…Bhila attacked for ‘lying’ to the people

Anesushe Mamhute

CHIREDZI – Aspiring Zanu PF Chiredzi North Member of Parliament (MP) Roy Bhila was last week criticised for allegedly basing his campaign on falsehoods, with people disputing his claim that he initiated a fish farming project in Chehondo Dam which he helped to repair.

Speaking at a Food and Nutrition Committee (FNC) meeting in Ward 20, Zanu PF district chairperson, Susan Mhandu said Bhila could not be trusted with power.

“He was chased away from Ward 29 where he deceived people that residents in Ward 20 were already fishing from Chehondo Dam which he claimed was his idea but in actual fact, the dam is dry.

“We want people like John Mutomani who, when he was asked for cement to repair Cheshanga Dam, provided but did not promise what he could not give,” Mhandu.

John Mutomana, who has publicly declared his interest in the constituency, is expected to square it off against other competitors like Bhila, Ronald Ndava and current MP, Robert Mukwena.

One villager told TellZim News he was optimistic Mutomani will make a better MP than Mukwena whom he said had nothing to show for his time in the national assembly.

Mutomani’s continued support in Chiredzi communities in the course of his Lowveld Environmental Awareness Programme (LEAP) has brought him close to people especially in Chiredzi North where he has revived many dams to improve the lives of those in rural areas.
