GZU hosts 3rd ZHA conference

MASVINGO – Zimbabwe Historical Association recently held its 3rd annual conference at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU)’s prestigious Hebert Chitepo School of Law.
Running under the theme ‘Histories and Legacies of Mining and the Environment in Southern Africa’, the conference was attended by students and lecturers from GZU, University of Zimbabwe (UZ), University of Free State University and University of Johannesburg.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, ZHA vice president Dr Ephias Dzimbanhete thanked GZU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Rungano Zvobgo for the supporting ZHA and other like-minded organisation.
Dzimbanhete also said the association was aiming to collaborate with other stakeholders and universities to provide an academic research and trace the history of the country.
“We want to engage all people and other universities who are interested in history. If the resources permit, we want to have a journal which we will publish our researches,” said Dr Dzimbanhete.
The keynote speaker was Professor David Moore from the University of Johannesburg who surprised many with his vast knowledge of Zimbabwean history as well as the current affairs of the country.education
