05 Feb 2017 – MASVINGO – Efforts by the Chivi Rural District Council (RDC) to improve service delivery have been recognised with the local authority being honoured as the best-run rural council in Zimbabwe at the public sector management awards held in Harare last week.
The awards were sponsored by Stallon Consultancy.
This was the second edition of the awards for local authorities following last year’s inaugural edition.
Rural and urban local authorities were grouped in different categories with Chivi RDC emerging tops.
Chivi RDC Chief Executive Officer, Tariro Matavire was pleased by the recognition saying hard work had finally paid off.
“This award has motivated us to work harder to improve service delivery for the people despite working under harsh economic conditions.
“We have done a lot with the little that we have as council and we have managed to cover and implement all the objectives of ZimAsset thematic areas,” said Matavire.
Matavire also said Chivi RDC will continue to work to deliver on its primary priority which is clean water for all people.news
