29 Jan 2017 – MASVINGO – Three people died in two horrific accidents that happened the last weekend, it has been confirmed.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said motorists should try to be courteous when driving at night.
“It is sad that two accidents cost us two important lives in Masvingo. Motorist should avoid over speeding when driving at night. Moreover, drivers have to be careful when driving at night so that tragedies like these can be avoided,” said Inspector Mazula.
The first accident took place around 02:00 am along Masvingo-Great Zimbabwe road when Benjamin Makasi (19) of Eastvale driving a blue Honda Fit collided against Kizito Mubaiwa (44) of plot 202 Bushmead who was driving a white Mitsubishi Colt.
Police records have it that Makasi was driving along Mubaiwa’s lane and when he realised it, they both tried to change the lane at the same time and they collided.
A person identified as Pabwaungana, who was in Kizito’s car, died on the sport.
The other accident happened on the same day around 04:10 am at Shakashe Bridge along Mutare road where two people lost their lives.
Runesu Kujinga of 1386 Mambo Street, Mucheke, who was driving a silver Toyota Granvia with two passengers, collided against Leo Watadzaushe who was driving a Toyota Allion with one passenger.
Watadzaunashe lost control and swayed to Kujinga’s side leading to collision.
