The remark was made by Chiredzi Town council chairperson, Councillor Gibson Hwende who said the radio station is a shot in the arm for residents as it will improve council’s information dissemination channel as well as ensuring that accurate and credible information on town development is relayed to residents.
“The station will improve communication between council and the community so as to keep all our residents well informed about issues pertaining to the development of the town.
“It will also act as a form and way of promoting our rich Shangani/Tsonga culture” said Hwende.
He also said Chiredzi town council was committed to the development of the station and have already offered the station a building for their studio and is working on developing the landscape sarround it.
“Chiredzi town council has offered Avuxeni Community Radio Station LEAP Building to use for their operations.
“Council has also offered to put up irrigation for Landscaping and have already planted lawn right round the complex,” Hwende added.
