Panic as military chopper lands in Jerera

ZAKA – People at Jerera growth point and
surrounding areas were thrown into jitters last Thursday after an army
helicopter landed twice in the area.
Various leaders in Zaka confirmed that there
was an army helicopter which landed but no one knew exactly the reason why it
was there.
Most people in the country remain fearfully
respectful of the army especially after the overthrow of Robert Mugabe last
year, and the killing of at least six people in Harare on August 01.
When contacted for comment, Headquarter 4
Infantry Brigade public relations officer (PRO) Shelom Mudhara said he had no
knowledge that a military helicopter had landed there.
“We do not know of any military helicopter
landing in Zaka. There was no army business in Zaka which required a
helicopter,” said Mudhara.
However, Ward 19 councillor, Peter Imbayarwo
confirmed an army helicopter landed once then took off, came back and land
again before taking off for good.
“I saw the helicopter, it first landed near the
booster hill and took off. It then went away and came back and landed at an open
space near the police base,” said Imbayarwo.
Zaka Central MP Davison Svuure corroborated Imbayarwo,
saying he heard about the helicopter which landed in Jerera and one of the
people on board was a local army officer.
“I heard that there was an army helicopter in
Jerera and one of the people who were on board is from Madzivire area,” said
Svuure.
District Administrator (DA) Ndeya Nyede and
Zaka Rural District Council (RDC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Majaura
all said they only heard about the helicopter but they did not see it and they
did not know why it was in Zaka.
Some residents said the army wanted to
establish a base in the Mutamba area while others said the army was there to
enforce price controls.

40 000 couples expected at the Peace Family Festival

More than 40 000 couples drawn from all walks of life
are expected to attend the Peace Family Festival organised by the Family
Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) to be held at the National
Sports Stadium in Harare on November 17.
FFWPUZ Zimbabwe chapter chairperson, Archbishop Johannes
Ndanga told journalists and other people who attended the media sensitisation
workshop held in Harare as a build up to the event that they were expecting a
huge turnout as the registrations had surpassed the target of 40k couples.
Ndanga said the festival, which is running under the
motto ‘Strong and Healthy Families Make a Healthy and Prosperous Nation’, was a
rededication exercise where couples will be blessed to create peaceful
families.
“The purpose of this festival is to heal the wounds of
the past and support the Zimbabwean government’s endeavours for peace and
reconciliation.
“We are expecting to host more than 40 000 couples. There
is an ongoing registration exercise going on around the country and the
response is overwhelming. We are inviting people from all walks of life to
attend the festival and be blessed as we seek to heal our nation,” said Ndanga.
He also said the media critical in fostering peace and
reconciliation through its in influence on public opinion.
He also said FFWPUZ will soon launch a program to
award journalists who will report positively towards peace and reconciliation.
Speaking at the same event, the deputy minister in the
Ministry of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Energy Mutodi
applauded FFWPU for organising the workshop as well as the festival saying it
will go a long way in promoting the governments’ efforts to engender a peace in
the country.
“At a time when business people and nations are
engulfed in perceived disunity, we are reminded that we are greater than our
differences and we should therefore take a step in unison towards peace,” said
Mutodi

GZU Zinasu’s take on child marriages

The best parent any child can get is the
society in which the child lives therefore, in this case, the worst thing society
can do is neglecting its duty by letting the child be the parent.
Sadly, each morning we wake up to skate on such
thin ice due to the high prevalence of child marriages in Zimbabwe.
According to Plan International, this social
ill is defined as ‘any marriage where at least one of the parties is under 18
years of age.”
The Zimbabwe National Students Unions (Zinasu) at
Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) stands firm in denouncing such acts as they
destroy the future of many potential leaders in society.
Excruciatingly, 31 percent of girls are in dire
straits and more of them could end up in this situation if this social evil is
left to breathe.
Statistical data by Plan International
indicates that four percent of the girls were married under 15 years of age.
Furthermore, 60 percent of women aged between
18 and 24 have had sexual intercourse before the age of 18.
Each and every part of the society must stand
firm to react before this epidemic turns to be a pandemic situation. The union
believes unity is the solution when tackling such a problem.
Efforts towards poverty eradication must be
made by government. Economic instability has profoundly been a contributing
factor to the upbringing of this animal called “child marriages”.
Putting into consideration the cases recorded
in Mashonaland Central (50 percent), Mashonaland West (42 percent), Midlands
(42 percent) and other provinces; there is need for the government to beat the
clock.
In one stroke, there is need to create an
environment that can accommodate one’s dream, reward sweat and remunerate pain!
This enables the biological parents, guardians
and even the society at large to assist a child before light is replaced by
darkness.
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the
most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
The girls at risk of dropping out of education
should be supported morally and financially through the introduction of more
scholarships and programmes like Basic Education Module (Beam) by government, churches,
civic organisations and companies.
GZU Zinasu believes in the saying that if you
educate the girl child you have educated a nation but the question is: What
role should you play to deal with child marriages? Identifying that role would lead
to prevention, reduction of the rate of child marriages.
The factor behind the rise of this evil is for good
men to do nothing, to borrow the words of Edmund Burke.
The existence of marriage legal instruments plays
a crucial role in efforts to prevent and control child marriages. These laws
should, however, be implemented, enforced and monitored without fail.
The 2013 Constitution specifically sections 78,
56 and 26, Domestic Violence Act and Customary Marriages Act are key when
dealing with this cancer.
The laws do not only focus on vulnerable children
living in the shadows of child marriages but also those already swimming in the
dead pool, facing vices like gender based violence.
The judicial sector should henceforth act in
total commitment to fight the vice of child marriages and punish offenders.
GZU Zinasu believes that the fight against
child marriages can also be won if government unveils programmes to help poor
students meet their fees requirements.
Students from poor families are vulnerable to
abuse by older men and many of them drop out of school after failing to pay
tuition, get married early and bear children who will be equally vulnerable.
The cycle continues over and over again unless there is some deliberate effort
on the part of all stakeholders to make a change.
It is against this background that GZU Zinasu
believes a child’s life should be like piece of paper on which every person
leaves a mark.
The word orphan should not exist in a country
like ours where resources can be shared more equitably to ensure that the
economic factors behind child marriages are destroyed.

Muzenda Foundation donates golf kits to Victoria High school

Foundation recently donated golf kits to Victoria High School as part of the
organisation’s wider initiatives to introduce the sport to schools.
Speaking to TellZim News after
the donation ceremony, Simon Muzenda Foundation vice president in Masvingo,
Pascal Mudzikisi said the move was aimed at improving golf talent among
children and to give them opportunities to play the game.
“As Simon Muzenda Foundation, we
are glad to lend a hand to the school as a way of improving the lives of pupils
by giving them an opportunity to experience the sport.
“We believe our children in
Masvingo must have the privilege to play golf which many still regard as a
sport for the rich and privileged. We are therefore making a statement to
children to the effect that we want them to join the Masvingo Golf Club family
especially now when they are still young, with all the time in front of them.
Victoria High head, John Mazamani
expressed gratitude to the foundation, saying it was exciting that golf had
been added to the 13 other sporting disciplines offered at the school.
“I would like to say thank you to
the foundation for helping us with these kits that will enable our pupils to
play golf. We will make sure we encourage those who want to take up the sport
to do so with confidence.
“Golf is a good sport and a
productive way of unwinding and getting your mind off the pressures of studying.
This is indeed the beginning to great sporting journey that we are proudly
looking forward to, thanks to the generous work of the S. V Muzenda Foundation,”
said Mazamani.
Since its formation a few years
ago, the foundation has helped to introduce golf among many young children,
with such schools as Don Bosco and Victoria Primary being among beneficiaries
of its previous equipment donations.

Chipinge’s revered Zim Dancehall sensation, Chomnux – real name is Chomunorwa Machaka – says he is determined to show creativity in a musical genre which has been criticised as dominated by copycats who lack innovation.
Zim Dancehall took the country by storm at the turn of this century dislodging Urban Grooves from the pole position.
Many artist of the genre, which evolved from Dancehall music, which has Jamaican roots, have however been widely criticised for coming up with half-backed projects following the proliferation of backyard studios and producers over the past decade.
“A lot of substandard music is coming from backyard producers who are recording rushed projects. This is due to the fact that such producers want quick money and such an unprofessional culture is killing the genre,” said Chomnux.
He said Zim Dancehall was also facing challenges related lack of creativity as evidenced by the literal ‘copying and pasting’ of Jamaican rhythms.
“For some artists, if you hear one song you would have heard all. The songs are lukewarm and lack creativity. Nowadays, the beat is sounding more of Jamaican than Zimbabwean. The Zimbabwe flavour has lost taste and is a bit monotonous. Artistes should adapt to change in order to survive,” he added.
The 27-years-old artist, who hails from Chibuwe in Chipinge West, sings with his wife Mrs Nux whose real name is Millicent Magumo.
He is working on music videos for most of his popular songs and has promised to wow Chipinge fans with his newly-adapted beats.
“Chipinge has no popular studios so we have to record in other towns. Without our own studios and a radio station, the going is tough but I am standing the heat,” he said.
Chomnux started his music career in 2007 and released five albums namely Tinzweiwo Baba, Zvakunakidza, Tapinda muindustry, Love is life and Level rekumberi.
He got into the limelight when he sang on four rythms namely Platnum riddim, produced by Mount Zion, V12 riddim produced by PTK, Kickstart riddim produced by Masvingo’s ace producer Lyre, and Chemical riddim produced by KB.

GWERU – A Midlands State University’s (MSU) student and upcoming Afro pop, RnB and Hip Hop artiste Kudzanai Gona, popularly known as Sqkatta, early this week released a music video titled Mamacita.
The video is making waves on social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook where it gained 1 000 plus views in just two days after its release.
Sqkatta told TellZim News he also did a couple of music videos due for release and has worked with organisations like MyAge Zimbabwe in the Girl Child Awareness Campaign.
He said he started doing his music while still in primary school; singing in the church choir and he then began writing his own songs when he was in form four.
“I started singing when I was doing my primary education at Helen McGhie in Masvingo. I was also very much active in the church choir and that is when I grew fond of singing.
“I started by copying from other people’s songs and later started writing my own. Over the years, I have been featured in songs of other people but this time I have decided to go solo and do my own work.
“This is my first video and I am receiving overwhelming response from my followers,” said Sqkatta.
He said he will be releasing a six-track album by year end, adding that the song will feature Bongiwe Moyo, better known as Bongzee in music circles.
Sqkatta is in his part four doing an honours degree in Media and Society Studies.

CHIREDZI – Harare-based upcoming gospel artist, Shalom Gorejena, who is also known by her stage name, Starling, recently released a single track entitled Tariro produced by Vic Enlisted.
Gorejena has three other songs to her name which are Zvese, Daddy Yo, Ndini Wacho and she is also featured on Mathias Mhere’s second album titled Nguva yenyasha.
“Growing up, I have always been inclined to art and I have been passionate about music since I was in primary school. I have so many people who helped me realise my talent, and those include my mother and my pastor,” Gorejena told TellZim News.
Her first song titled Zvese was produced by Mcdee Chidavaenzi whom she also credits for helping her discover her talented voice, and she is looking forward to working on her first album.
“I am still waiting for the right moment and maturity in my work that will help me fill the gap which I see in the industry. This will make me not just an entertainer but relevant to the time,” she said.
Gorejena has also done a few collaborations with artists like producers Mr Nox and Princo Spice and she is currently working on a song with guitarist Josh Meck.
She said the work she is doing with Josh Meck will be released soon while another track called We are the world, produced by Quazor, and which features different artists, was also in the making.

Pastor Chironda launches New Creation Embassy

Prosperity gospel preacher, Pastor Onward Chironda has formed his own church, New Creation Embassy, parting ways with the Life in Christ Church International which brought him into the limelight in Masvingo a few years ago.
He conducted his first service with the new church on Sunday, October 07, in the presence of many followers, though the official launch is scheduled to be held at Flamboyant Hotel on October 28.
The official launch will be preceded by an all-night prayer at the same venue on October 26.
Answering questions from TellZim News later on, Chironda said he got a vision from God to start his own church, adding there was no bad blood between him and his former church.
“I made a lot of progress with the previous ministry including growing the following, acquiring stand for the church stand in Victoria Ranch, buying chairs and a public address system but I decided to follow my calling and my new God-given vision,” said Chironda.
The man of the cloth also said this was the time to preach the word of God and bring many people to the serving-knowledge of Christ.
“I have no doubt that this is the time that this God has called us to preach the undiluted gospel of Jesus Christ with a mandate of bringing many to the realisation of His divine purpose for their lives through this glorious and excellent ministry.
“I believe in prosperity. People have to make progress in their lives because if God is for us, then who can really be against us?” Chironda said.
Chironda claims to have been inspired by Spirit Embassy founder and leader Uebert Angel, whom he reportedly met in South Africa at International School of Ministry which is ran by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy church.

Prices of basic commodities are increasing every day; supermarkets shelves are almost getting empty; rampant fuel shortage and ever increasing black market forex rates. Ndozvamaidaka izvi nhai? And if you ask a not so intelligent minister like Jorum Gumbo he will continue telling you that the fuel shortages are artificial. Gumbo should be forgiven for he not really understand what it means when saying the shortage is artificial – anotodawo kubatsirwa uyu, never mind that he is a Dr kkkkkk PhD chaiyo.
They have rigged the elections; they won the elections through the courts; we hope the courts will help them to win this case against the economy and I am sure Malaba will deliver a favourable judgment soon.  Kkkkkkk the late Tsvangirai was very clear that you can rig elections but not the economy. This is where we are now and even those who were supporting ED are now thinking otherwise.
Kkkkkkk but Mapombi akambozvitaura kuti kufarira kupinda kwaED kufarira n’anga neinondobata amai chionai manje Murambwi venyu zvava kutiitira. From nepotism to tribalism; it’s either you are from Gutu if you are in Mavsingo province for one to get a ministerial post or you are from Midlands especially Mberengwa kuti zvikufambire. Or at least you should be a Moyo in order to get a better post.  That is ED for you!
Mapombi will not hestate to say the truth; ED and uncle Bob are like identical twins maitiro avo akangofanana. Just last week we saw use of brutal force on ZCTU leadership who were planning to exercise their constutitional right to demonstrate against the illegal 2cents tax which was imposed by Prof Mthuli. This is exactly what uncle Bob used to do kungorova nekuurayisa vanhu mahara. Mapombi therefore, will not care much about this shameless nepotism by ED because he inherited it from uncle Bob and as such he should be forgiven for that.
It’s now time to be honest with each other guys; we cannot continue sugarcoating the current economic crisis and shortage of basic essentials as artificial.  The challenge is that the majority of the comrades appointed are not so intelligent and they are clueless to say the least. Some are said to be technocrats but they leave a lot to be desired and one may end up asking are these really technocrats?  At least two or three are genuine technocrats – Chitando, Murwira kwete ana Moyo vehealth avo vakaiswa because of their surname inonzi Moyo.
For Mthuli please hold on a bit; Mapombi don’t really understand this Professor Mthuli guy; he is so detached from the truth zvinotobhowa. Mapombi is very sure Mthuli is a professor of incompetence – the guy is a complete failure judging by the current prevailing economic crisis and his somewhat pro-elite policies he imposed on poor Zimbabweans. Vanoda kuti isu varombo tirwadziwe asi ivo they allocate each other thousands of fuel coupon and top of the range vehicles and after that they tell us kuti we have to feel the pain kuti zvinhu zvinake. We will say no, in fact povho yakatojamuka kudhara and the results are there for everyone to see. Ndoma V11 forms and primary evidence yamaichemeraka iyi – the evidence is there that these comrades have failed to solve the economy.
Mthuli is responsible for all these shortages of fuel and basic goods in the country. And if you ask Gumbo he will tell us the shortage is artificial kkkkkkkkk baba vaya aka vanoda kubatsirwa chaiko! Wake up and smell the coffee minister the shortage is real.
Anyway, Mapombi will not waste time talking of Gumbo who is not new to controversy –  im sure he retains the ministerial post simply because he hails from Mberengwa otherwise zvingadaro akaenda pakaenda vamwe uyu.
So Mthuli saw it fit to fundraise money from the suffering people so that they can buy their top of the range vehicles. They don’t want to trim down their benefits, not at all, but they want suffering citizens to rather pay 2cents per dollar so that they can maintain their flamboyant lifestyles as ministers.
But I like Zimbabweans, they do not have power but they have a wonderful way of responding to those who think they have power to impose things on them – I am sure by now Mthuli has learnt something – the hard way of course. We shall see; handei tione kuti ndiyani achakurirwa but what I know is the economy is kneeling down and soon muchapa kutenda henyu mamboti madii. For some of us kana hanya because nhamo taijaira – seni Mapombi nhamo ndakaidzidziswa neZanu PF so im very much grateful. At least there is one thing this Zanu government accepted at last, that is, Bond Note is equivalent to US$.  Kkkkkkkkk they tried kuti zvakaenzana but vazozvionera manje kuti mombe nedhongi hazvina kufanana.
Mapombi wonder what kind of a learned minister Mthuli is? A minister borrowing money everywhere simply for importing fuel, soyabeans, wheat, electricity and other raw materials apa production dololololo hahahahaha hakuna munhu akadzidza anoita zvakadai. Kukanga mbeu zvinoitawo here vakomana. We want production. Period!
Mapombi noticed the black market rates are increasing and now US$100 is attracting over $400 Bond Notes  and Zanu PF will tell you that things will normalize kkkkkkk musationa senge marema varume imi. In fact if it is Nick Mangwana he will tell the nation that we are above the situation kkkkkkk wotoshaya kuti baba ava vanorarama munyika ino here or vachiri kuUK. We are not above the situation Cde Nick; the situation is way below us – underneath. That’s the problem of employing people on the basis that they write propaganda columns vachitukirira Chamisa – we want people with relevant qualifications, please.
Anyway, it’s almost lunch time let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch ndizvidyire munyika yavaED iyi. At least maputi will be the last thing kushaikwa because chibage hobho munyika and that is the reason hupfu husiri kukwira. But Mphoko must have solutions to all these problems – we should take him to Rainbow Towers in Harare ambogara zvake ipapo nefamily achibatsira nyika with solutions to solve prevailing economic crisis. Dozens of MSU students participated in the cleanup exercise

ZVISHAVANE – Some students at the local campus of the Midlands State University (MSU) on October 17 cleaned up the environs of Shabani Mine Hospital as a way of communicating their commitment to environmental health.
Speaking during the exercise, Margaret Nsiyaludzu, a nurse at the hospital, praised the cleanup campaign, saying it sent an important message that clean surroundings were a responsibility of all citizens.
“I am pleased with what is being done here because it shows that the generation of these students is a better generation, a generation which will help to build a better Zimbabwe.
“Many patients were wondering what was happening outside and I informed them that there were MSU students cleaning around the premises. They too were pleased with what the students are doing,” she said.
Mandava and Makwasha warden, who is also deputy director of sports and recreation, Dr Kaves Zvapano said the event was just the beginning of even greater things that the university planned to do for the hospital.
“This is just the beginning of greater things to come. We came here today on zero budget, but next time we are going to do something even greater,” he said.
Davice Chiware, a student at MSU, thanked his colleagues for mobilising themselves for an event which she said had brought a positive change to the environment. She also called for a bigger response in all future charitable activities, saying the university had a critical role to play in the wellbeing of the town.
