Dear mwana waMai Farai, Dr Paul Chimedza

0

For some of us who grew up together with you tinokuziva uchinzi mwana waMai Farai. I’m sure this will make you wonder who really Mapombi is but don’t worry you know me very well from Ward 28 in Gutu South Constituency. I mean ndinika musikana uye uye aigeza zvekuti bhee-e achitsvinda chaiko; of course I will not mention that at one point wakatombotorwawo moyo neni well before you even became a doctor, Dr Paul.
But Zanu PF reduced me to a beggar which now survives nemaputi and rotten bananas. I’m always clad in mamvemve zvekuti even vana Dr Chimedza vatakadzidzawo navo havachatotiziva. This is one of the many reasons I hate Zanu PF to the bone marrow. I hate it with a passion, though I like certain individuals in this stinking party.
There is one thing I like about this Zanu PF party though. They have principles; it’s totally different from kwedu kwaTsvangirai uku where they know absolutely nothing about principles.  All along, I thought MDC-T was the most organised party but ndaizvinyepera wena. In fact the opposite is very true for the Tsvangirai-led party. They are busy tearing each other apart on social media while Zanu PF is busy mobilising people to go and register to vote.
Chamisa and Khupe allies are busy fighting for seniority in the party; each saying his or her preferred candidate is the most suitable to replace Tsvangirai. Ko akati munhu akarwara afa ndiyaniko? We all know Tsvangirai is still there and is the leader of MDC Alliance so munorwirei? Isn’t it an act of sheer greed kurwira nhaka muridzi asati afa? Tinyareiwo vanaChamisa; all along Mapombi was thinking makadzidza makangwara but ummm I doubt that now.
Mapombi will always be honest; kundivenga or kusandivenga I don’t care because I will always tell the truth. Given a chance to choose Tsvangirai’s successor right now, I would say my brother Elias Mudzuri is the best of them all. The man is very steady uye njere pamusha padzo. He showed his organising skills when he was the party’s national organising secretary before Chamisa took over. When he was the mayor of Harare, he initiated quite a number of developmental projects. Mapombi is very sure in terms of quality none of the VPs would beat Mudzuri, not even Chamisa wenyu wamunoti he is charismatic. Chamisa anogona kungotaura zvinonakidza vanhu chete asi when it comes to organising and uniting people, he still has a very long way to go.
Anyway, today I want to concentrate more on mwana waMai Farai, Dr Paul Chimedza who was recently appointed Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Masvingo.  The seat is very hot and I am sure, if not careful, the good medical doctor vanosvuuka magadziko very soon.
Mapombi heard there were welcome celebrations for him on Monday but his enemies were busy planning against him at a separate venue. They were reversing Chadzamira’s suspension and went ahead to fire vavowo. Kkkkkkk yangova party yekudzingana chete chete.
Kkkkkkk but Chadzamira ndomunzwira tsitsi ini vakomana; before he even changed his WhatsApp profile picture yake paisimudziwa naPresident Mugabe at Mucheke stadium achinzi ndiye chairman weMasvingo mava kutomudzingazve vakomana kkkkkkk murombo haarovi chine nguwo chokwadi.
But it is fun – it has become an open secret that Lacoste no longer want Mugabe but no one has the courage to tell him or at least to say it publicly. No one has the guts or balls to say Mugabe ngaachirova pasi but when they are by themselves unonzwa zvichinzi kamudhara aka hatichakadi mhani. Kkkkkk kotauraizve. Tell him to go. Go and nominate Mnangagwa at the extra-ordinary congress then you go for secret ballot election and eliminate him kana musisamude not kuswerotinyaudza kumabhawa uku.
Dr Chimedza, Mapombi would like to encourage you to be a bit firm. Remember kana watodya imbwa wotodya gonho. That post needs someone who is tough like the late Mahofa was. You should stamp authority. You should call Lacoste to order. They should shape up or ship out. Period!
For them to prefer to have their own meeting when everyone was celebrating and welcoming you is indiscipline of the highest order and must not go unpunished.
I liked Mzembi’s speech at the celebrations – e-eh ndakasvika nepo ndikanzwa achibwereketa ko tinoshaikwa here isu pangonzi pane chikafu chemahara. Mzembi warned Chadzamira that he should take a back seat aite steady zvake till his suspension is lifted.
Lacoste is failing to appreciate one thing kuti vakarohwa makasi apa and to try and fight back undiplomatically will even bring more misery to the camp. Why not chill and start re-strategising again? Nharo dzegurwe hadzina kwadzinosvitsa idzi.
Anyway, Mapombi expect Dr Chimedza to be firm. I know the guy likes swag – kuchengeta ndebvu and zuda mumusoro, flat cap and chains chichii imwe iya iya but he has to be firm.  Be firm; tonga vanhu mwana waMai Farai. Report them to Bob kana vazonyanya kuda kukunetsa.
Show them you just don’t neglect chin hygiene for nothing.
By the way, it is almost lunch time guys regai ndiende zvangu ndindokanga maputi angu for lunch nekuti nzara ndanzwa. I last ate pamabiko paChimedza ipapo till today. But before I go, how is Mphoko doing? I like the old man that I cannot go for a week without finding out how is he doing. By the way, Saturday chakachaya paBulawayo paYouth interface rally namudhara. Mapombi expect Mphoko and Grace kuti vangochipedzesa game racho. Mboko imboko!mapombi

Chipanga throws Chinguno to the vultures

Kudzai Chipanga

Lloyd Shunje

MUTARE – Zanu PF national nouth secretary Kudzai Chipanga has sent an independent team to probe the alleged fraud case involving Manicaland provincial youth chairperson Mubuso Chinguno who stands accused of embezzling US$400 000.
Last week youths in Chipinge staged a demonstration against Chinguno whom they accused of defrauding them of almost US$400 000 that was meant to develop residential stands in Chipinge town and Checheche growth point.
Chinguno has steadfastly rejected the allegations made against him, arguing that he was being victimised because he called for the removal of Vice President Mnangagwa and his replacement with first lady Grace Mugabe.
Speaking to TellZim News, Chipanga said he sent the probe team because he prioritised the concerns and grievances of the people of Chipinge.
“We have got laid down procedures in the party. We have heard our people’s concerns and we have so far sent a team to do some fact finding work on the ground. We are now waiting for a full report from the team so that we can take action,” added Chipanga.
Chinguno is alleged to have angered young people who were set to benefit from the stands when he allegedly ignored tender procedures and used companies that he and his proxies own to develop the stands.
He is accused of failing to fully service all the stands despite diverting the money to his own personal use.
The stands scheme for Chipinge was launched in September 2016, with 350 hectares of land at Redwell Farm being allocated for the establishment of a youth village. Fifty more hectares were earmarked for similar purposes at Checheche growth point.
Earlier this year, Chinguno threatened to seize council land from City of Mutare, accusing the MDC-T dominated council of sabotaging the youth’s dreams to have their own homes.
“We will take the land in Dangamvura by force if the council will not let us occupy the land which is meant for the youth,” Chinguno was quoted as saying.politics

Hippo Valley High pupil burnt in cane field

CHIREDZI – A Hippo Valley High School pupil took shelter in a sugarcane plot after her parents chased her away from home but nobody knew that those were to be the girl’s last moments alive as she would, some hours later, die of severe burns.
The incident, which happened on October 23, saw the minor being severely burnt before being airlifted to Harare where she died of her excruciating injuries.
Masvingo acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case and urged parents to be tolerant as all children have their own flaws.
Sources said Martha Hlupeko, who was doing her form one at Hippo Valley High School and residing in Section 7 Hippo Valley Estates with her mother and stepfather, had quarrelled with her mother because she had arrived home late.
The misunderstanding reportedly started with the girl’s mother, who had been away on a visit, calling to request that Martha wait for her on Section 7A bus stop.
The girl complied but upon noticing that it was getting late, shifted to Section 7B where there was some light and she failed to see her mother arrive in the process.
She then gave up on the wait and went home, only to find that her mother was already there and was angry as she suspected that she had been with her boyfriend.
After being chased from home, Martha went to her boyfriend to consult him on what to do but he could not accommodate her so she decided to take shelter in a nearby cane field for the night.
“She went to her boyfriend who is an employee at Hippo Valley Estate but he could not accommodate her so she took shelter in the plot which was then set on fire early the following morning to prepare the cane for harvesting,” said a source.
Martha was discovered the following morning by Hippo Valley employees who reported the case to the police and the girl was taken to Hippo Valley Hospital before being airlifted to Harare where she died.local

Only 2 % of Masvingo households lack prepaid meters, says ZEDTC

MASVINGO – Only two percent of households in Masvingo are still using the old electricity meters and are yet to be connected using the recommended prepaid meters, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Commission (ZETDC) says.
At a workshop organised by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) and the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) recently, ZETDC commercial manager for Manicaland and Masvingo provinces, Fabion Mabaya said 98 percent of all households in Masvingo were using prepaid meters.
He said the remaining two percent will have their own prepaid meters before the end of next year.
“Out of 36 000 houses that we have in Masvingo, only 700 have no prepaid meters and I promise you before the end of next year, prepaid meters will have been installed in those houses.
He urged residents to save electricity by using energy server lamps as the country has to raise foreign currency to import supplementary energy from neighbouring countries.
He also said the country had saved 110 megawatts of electricity since the introduction of prepaid electricity meters in 2011.local

Mahoso blasts IMPI report

Tafataona Mahoso

…savages Prof Moyo for ‘shoddy’ work

Moses Ziyambi

MASVINGO – Recommendations contained in the government-sanctioned Information and Media Panel of Inquiry (IMPI) are unlikely to see the light day after the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Tafataona Mahoso questioned the credibility of the document.
Dr Mahoso and his team were recently in Masvingo where they held a discussion with local journalists on matters of mutual interest.
Responding to a question on when government planned to implement recommendations of the inquiry, Dr Mahoso attacked the composition of the panel that conducted the research, indicating that most of the people were brought on board for patronage reasons.
“IMPI makaitangira padumbu (In the case of IMPI, the cart was put before the horse). The process had no legal standing vis-à-vis ZMC. Even the budget that was allocated to IMPI was 10 times bigger than the ZMC budget. Some of them were getting $500 every day. How could that be?” queried Dr Mahoso.
He also claimed that most of the researchers had no sound appreciation of the media industry whatsoever, but were nonetheless given places on the panel so that they too could enjoy the gravy train.
“Kwakatorwawo vamwe vanhu vasingaziviwo zvavo nezve media (people with no background in the media were included). A busload for work that could simply be done by a few people, and they produce a voluminous text whose contents amount to very little. As media, you are free to critique its composition and make up your mind,” said Dr Mahoso.
The 666-page IMPI report, officially presented to authorities in April 2015, was a result of almost one year of extensive outreach work done by media stakeholders at the behest of then Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Professor Jonathan Moyo.
Although the report was generally well-received as critical in improving operations of the media in Zimbabwe, government has sat on it ever since its release.
Among other things, the report notes that corruption has permeated the media industry and journalism standards have declined.
It recommends that repressive laws like the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) and the Broadcasting Services Act (BSA) be reviewed in line with the new Constitution.
“In the long term, there should be constitutional and legislative shift to allow self-regulation of the media, in line with regional and international standards,” reads part of the report.local

ERC election debate: Masvingo rejects proof of residence requirements

0

TellZim Reporter

MASVINGO – People who took part in an election debate organised by the Election Resource Centre (ERC) at Flamboyant Hotel last Thursday afternoon expressed displeasure with the requirement for proof of residence for one to be registered as a voter.
Many people who made contributions at the event, which had Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa as host, made it clear they do not see the reason why they should prove their village of origin when that information is already captured on the national identity card.
“Some of us are here in town but we want to be registered as voters back in our rural homes. The problem is that we are still required to produce a letter from the village head confirming that we are resident is his village. There is no logic in that because village of origin is one of the particulars captured on the ID card,” said one participant.
There were also complaints that the proof of residence requirement disenfranchises the youth because the overwhelming majority of them do not have houses of their own.
“It is being said the country needs young people to vote but that is not going to be possible because the youth are the least likely to get those documents. They don’t have houses of their own and they have to do all the pleading with parents and landlords to get that proof,” another participant said.
National People’s Party (NPP) spokesperson Jeffryson Chitando, who was one of the panelists, criticised the Zimbabwe Electoral commission (Zec) for failing to engage political parties on the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR).
“Political parties are major stakeholder but there has never been any meeting with us. That is the reason why there is so much ignorance and a lot of misconceptions about the process,” said Chitando.
MDC-T secretary general Doulas Mwonzora expressed concern over the hassles that people are encountering to get proof of residence but urged people to do all they should do to be on the new voters roll.
“Young people should particularly be encouraged to vote in their numbers. When Rex Nhongo and Josiah Tongogara liberated this country, they were younger than many of us here. As the MDC-T, we say the election should accord the secrecy of the vote, the security of the vote and the security of the voter,” said Mwonzora.
Gutu South Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Paul Chimedza, who was recently appointed Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, said Zanu PF was hard at work mobilising its supporters to register to vote.
“There are some challenges being talked about for instance the distance some people in rural areas have to walk to get to the registration centres but generally, the exercise is going on very well. As a party, we are busy mobilising our people to register to vote,” said Dr Chimedza.local

Stay away from underage marriages, bishops warned

A bishop shakes hands with DA Chingwe (far left), Bishop Shoko (in blue suit) and Chief Neshuro (right) after receiving his certificate

MWENEZI – Church leaders and other ordinary Christians who recently gathered at Rutenga growth point under the banner of the newly-formed Zimbabwe Anointed Church Leaders Association (ZACLA) were urged to observe the country’s laws and refrain from marrying underage children.
The congregation, which also witnessed the handover of certificates of recognition to 23 ZACLA affiliate bishops, was attended by ordinary people, councillors, Chief Neshuro and the District Administrator (DA) Rosemary Chingwe who was the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, ZACLA president Bishop Obed Shoko urged fellow bishops and Christians to observe the laws of the country by refraining from getting children into abusive marriages.
“To fellow bishops, the certificates we issued are not a passport to steal from worshippers. You should be exemplary in the discharge of God’s duties. We want Bishops who strictly observe the laws of the country as guaranteed as required by the Constitution.
“We do not tolerate bishops who marry young children under the guise of religion. You should urge fellow worshippers to refrain from such unholy behaviour or risk the full wrath of the law,” said Shoko.
In a side interview, Bishop Shoko said his newly formed association – which was launched in the district early September – is expected go on a membership recruitment drive in other parts of the province.
He added that by end of this year, his organisation will have a national footprint.local

Bikita Forum in massive medical outreach

Nyasha Marumbi

BIKITA – Bikita Forum, a non-profit organisation put together by local people, last Saturday, October 28, held a free-of-charge medical outreach which saw 400 people receiving free medical treatment at Mtikizizi Clinic as part of the group’s attempts to make a change in the community.
The initiative saw doctors and nurses from hospitals and clinics around the district attending to patients suffering from various ailments.
Notable contributions came from influential people such as Sudden Makuwe who donated US$250 worth of fuel, local Members of Parliament Jeppy Jaboon and Beauty Chabaya as well as Senator Ellen Rungani who made a substantial monetary contribution.
Other notable people present were former Bikita Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Johnson Mupamhadzi, incumbent Chief Marozva Solomon Mudhe and Tongai Wharu, who represented the Minister of Health and Child Welfare.
The response from villagers was so overwhelming that doctors ran out of medicine and some patients had to go back home without full medical attention.
Lucy Chivasa, a legal practitioner who is also a member of Bikita Forum, thanked all members and community leaders for working together to bring relief to the people of the district.
“As an organisation, we are very much open for donations from all like-minded people and organisations so that we can spread the charity initiative. We want to come up with something bigger and better next time,” said Chivasa.local

Ruvuli teacher uses Form 4 pupils exam fees to pay lobola

Nyasha Marumbi

MASVINGO – A Ruvuli Satellite School teacher-in-charge, Nyanguma Mandava is under fire for allegedly using pupils’ registration fees to pay bride price for his wife.
Mandava was arrested last week and will appear in court on November 6 after he allegedly converted, to his own personal use, some of the money given to him by 17 form four pupils who wanted him to go and register them as examination candidates at Mudavanhu Secondary School, the mother school of Ruvuli statellite under Chief Charumbira area.
The teacher is said to have allegedly demanded US$1.50 transport fee per subject to and from Mudavanhu High School.
Mandava allegedly collected an undisclosed amount but the highest prejudiced candidate paid $109. The teacher-in-charge allegedly did not even bother to go to the registration centre but instead decided to use the money to pay the bride price.
The matter came to light on October 16 2017 after some parents and pupils began asking for their receipts and examination statements of entry but Mandava allegedly kept on lying that the Zimbabwe School Examination Council (Zimsec) had delayed sending those necessities.
He reportedly gave some parents undated receipts but when the pressure began to build up, Mandava shamefacedly admitted that he had used the money for other purposes.
This led to his arrest although he had managed to refund some of the inconvenienced pupils.
TellZim News learnt that of the 17 affected candidates, four of them were not registered for any subject.local

Don’t use President’s inputs to get women, Zivhu warns Cllrs

Killer Zivhu

Moses Ziyambi

CHIVI – Chivi Rural District Council (RDC) chairperson Dr Killer Zivhu has spoken against community leaders who abuse the Presidential Input Scheme for their own selfish ends, warning that he will deal with such people this time around.
Dr Zivhu was addressing hundreds of farmers who gathered for the launch of the second phase of the village ZimAsset programme, now transformed to village command agriculture, at Banga Irrigation Scheme in Ward 26.
Also present at the event was Chivi South Member of Parliament Mafios Vutete and Councillor Enock Shindi.
“Ma inputs aPresident ari kuuya. Ndakakumbira honourable ndikanokumbira minister vakapinda ikozvino kuti macouncillor angu awa handidi kumaona ivo nevakadzi vavo vachitambira mbeu. Ivo vachatambirira kwaChivi. Kana vauya kumusha vanofanira kuita zvekutambirisa mbeu kwete zvekutambirisa mvana dzavo asi kutambirisa vanhu mbeu nefetiraiza. (The President’s inputs are coming and I have engaged with the Honourable [Vutete] and the new Provincial Affairs minister [Dr Paul Chimedza] to make sure that not one of my councillors and their wives are allowed to receive inputs at village level They will have to receive theirs at Chivi growth point and when the programme comes to the villages, they will only be required to distribute the inputs to the people but not to receive the inputs themselves. They will strictly be required to only distribute to the people, not to their mistresses),” Dr Zivhu said.
“Councillors cannot give me problems; I know how to deal with them. I am their leader in Chivi district and the whole Masvingo province, I am also leader of all rural councillors as well as all councillors; rural and urban. They are my people so when I speak, the boss has spoken. Neither councillor nor village head will be allowed to use inputs to entice women. Go and find something else to use as bait, not to use inputs. We will not turn back on that one,” said Dr Zivhu.
Dr Zivhu, who is Association of Rural District Councils of Zimbabwe (ARDCZ) president, was recently appointed leader of the Zimbabwe Local Government Association (Zilga).
“Tine vanhu vakawanda vanga vachiti pamhuri pavo vanonyorwa vari six vachigara pamusha umwe vopanana 18 masaga efetiraizi asi vane makandiwa matatu. Mamwe ose votengesa. Izvozvo zvava kuenda kumagumo. Zvinopera izvozvo. Dambudziko rinoitika nderekuti vanhu vanonyogwa nasabhuku, councillor anovuya kuzoona vanhu vachipiwa. Saka kumasabhuku ndiko kune dambudziko, vanenge voita zvidawo zvemitupo yavo, nembeu yavanhu. Izvozvo zvose tichadealer nazvo,” he said.
Dr Zivhu, who recently donated 32 cattle for slaughter during implementation of the second phase of the village ZimAsset initiative, urged farmers to work for higher yields this season.
“We are now moving on to village command agriculture, water harvesting as well rehabilitation of roads, schools and clinics. We also want people to use the inputs they will get, not to sell them. We want to see each farmer producing what is commensurate with the inputs he gets. We don’t want to see our people going elsewhere to buy food,” Dr Zivhu said.
