MASVINGO – The installation ceremony of substantive Chief Nyajena, Last Davakwe, has been rescheduled to Thursday, 27 August 2026, at Tugwane High School.
The news was announced in an invitation letter dated 24 August 2026 and signed by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe.
The ceremony was originally set for Friday, 22 August, but was deferred allegedly due to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s visit to Rufaro AFM Church.
In the letter seen by TellZim News, Minister Garwe invited Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira to officiate at the installation as Guest of Honour.
“As you may be aware, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde. Dr E.D. Mnangagwa, appointed Last Davakwe as substantive Chief Nyajena of Masvingo District on 27 April 2026 and his investiture ceremony has been slated for Thursday, 27 August. To that end, Honourable Minister of State Sir, you are therefore kindly invited to officiate at the installation of substantive Chief Nyajena as the Guest of Honour.
“By copy of this Minute, President and Deputy President of National Council of Chiefs, Chairperson of Masvingo Provincial Assembly and Acting Director for Local Government Services are hereby notified on the same,” read the letter.
The installation follows two other chiefly installations in Masvingo Province this month. Chief Nemamwa was installed on 20 August and Chief Muroyi on 21 August.
