MWENEZI – An 18-year-old form three pupil at Sagwari Secondary School who was convicted of having sex with a minor was relieved after the Mwenezi Magistrates Court set aside his prison sentence.
Ishmael Moyo of house number 1342 Rutenga was convicted on his own guilty plea by Magistrate Honest Musiiwa who sentenced him to a wholly suspended 10 months imprisonment.
Musiiwa strongly warned Moyo to refrain from committing such offences and pointed out that had it not been for the fact that Moyo was still going to school, he would have imposed more severe sentence to deter other would be offenders.
The State case as presented by the prosecutor, Patience Mutsikwi, was that sometime in January this year, Moyo proposed love to a 15-year-old girl, who is a form two pupil at G&N Secondary School, and the girl accepted.
On March 25, 2017, Moyo and the complaint went to a farm in Rineti where they engaged in consensual sex. The matter came to light after the complaint arrived home late on the day in question and spilled the beans when she was questioned by her father.
 A police report was made leading to Moyo’s arrest.
When the offence was committed, Moyo was also a student at G&N Secondary School but he quickly transferred to Sagwari Secondary School thereafter.local

ZVISHAVANE – Kefas Mangena of Village Zvoi under Chief Mazvihwa is a free man after Gweru High Court Judge Justice Martin Makonese found that he was mentally unfit to stand trial for allegedly killing his two months-old daughter.
The State, as represented by Tafadzwa Mpariwa, reported that the accused was suffering a mental disorder at the time he committed the offence.
The court, in terms of section 29(2) of the Mental Health Act Chapter 15:12 was therefore obliged to release him.
It was alleged that on May 19, 2014, two-months-old Veronica Crushel Mangena was asleep in the bedroom when the accused entered and started head-butting the baby several times.
He also allegedly smashed her on the wall, smashed her down and threw her out of the room through the window and the baby died on the spot.
The accused’s wife Jestina Maphosa was doing laundry outside when she heard the baby crying and she went into the bedroom to attend to the baby and saw what Kefas was doing.
The accused was 19-years-old at the time he committed the crime and was then arrested.
On May 21, 2014, Dr S. Pesanai conducted a post mortem on the body of the baby which showed that the cause of death was extensive subarachnoid hemorrhage,  skull fracture, blunt force trauma and assaults.
The accused person was examined by a psychiatrist Dr E. Poskot Chinova at Mlondolozi Special Institution on seven different occasions in 2014 and 2015 and it was discovered that he was suffering from a mental disorder by the time he committed the offense.
The doctor concluded that the accused should not be held legally responsible for his actions.

ZVISHAVANE – Simon Moyo (22) was shell-shocked when he was sentenced to five days behind bars for stealing a Nokia 1200 valued at US$10 by Zvishavane Magistrate Lyn Manyika last week.
Moyo took advantage of his relationship with the complainant, Prisca Chivasa, and disappeared with her cellphone and later sold it.
The theft victim reported the matter to the police resulting in the arrest of Moyo.
It was the State’s case that on May 17, 2017, Moyo borrowed Chivasa’s phone saying he wanted to make a call but he then vanished without returning the phone to its owner.
He later sold the phone for US$10 in Mandava. After discovering that Moyo had disappeared with her phone, Chivasa filed a police and Moyo was arrested two days later.
In his defence, Moyo told the court that he took the phone merely to make a call but an urgent need for money arose, forcing him to sell the phone intending to replace it when the problem was solved.
“Prisca is my girlfriend, I only sold the phone because I needed money to do some errands and wanted to buy her a new phone,” he said.
He was sentenced spend 5 days behind bars or pay a fine of US$30 before the last day of May.

CHIREDZI – Tracy Kusakaniko (58) of village 4 Melrose, Manjirenji in Chiredzi locked doors while her son, Erison Zimhondi (29) allegedly detained and raped a 13-year-old juvenile after she had been sent to their homestead to ask for some salt.
The duo are being charged with rape as defined in the section 65 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act chapter 09:23.
Chiredzi Resident Magistrate Constance Mutandwa heard that sometimes in April this year at Zimhondi homestead village 4 Melrose in Manjirenji, Kusakaniko connived with her son and locked in the complainant to be abused.
She then left her son and the complainant locked in the room before the accused undressed and ordered the complainant to undress herself but she refused. He then forcefully removed her clothes and had sexual intercourse with her.
A while later, he laid the complainant on her back and had sexual intercourse with her again without her consent.
The following morning the complainant went out of the room when Kasikaniko opened the door and went on to tell her sister what had happened leading to the arrest of the suspects.
On his initial appearance, Erison, who is being represented by Charles Vhudzi of Zimbodza and Associates, was released from custody because he was over detained by the police.
Kasikaniko was kept in custody and they will appear in court next week for continuation of trial.

ZAKA – An informal gold miner, Simon Gwature lost his life after the shaft he was working in gave in and collapsed in the Fuve-Panganai area.
Reports said the victim’s colleague, identified as Emad Jenjerewere, was injured in the accident and was admitted at Musiso Hospital for treatment.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula told TellZim News she had not yet received the report by the time of going to print.
However, Zaka Rural District Council Ward 15 councillor, Stephen Harudzibwi said the two were involved in the accident while operating in a deserted shaft.
“They were operating in a derelict shaft and as a result, Gwature lost his life. The incident is sad indeed and we hope the community has learnt the dangers of operating illegally and above all, without safety measures.
“The injured person has since been released from Musiso Hospital and was present at the burial of his deceased colleague on Monday,” Harudzibwi said.
Circumstances leading to the collapse were not immediately available but it is said the shaft was horizontally long but few metres deep.
The panning started a few weeks ago after the precious stone was discovered in Mapurisa village in Chief Nhema, with panners coming from areas like Zvishavane and Mberengwa.
Deputy Minister of Mines Fred Moyo recently called for small scale miners to register and operate legally to reduce risks of fatal accidents.local

Coalition talks affect opposition parties

Are the current coalition talks among opposition political parties progressive or retrogressive? The negotiations seem to be taking much time of opposition parties, and more importantly, has brought uncertainty on the criteria that would be used to field candidates for national assembly and local government at the 2018 general elections.
The Movement for Democratic Change led by Morgan Tsvangirai (MDC-T) seems to be relaxed or confused about the current coalition negotiations as party members are too relaxed to express their interest to contest different positions except for the known perennial losers.
By this time in 2012, MDC-T members were all over jostling for positions ahead of July 31, 2013 general elections but the mood is totally different this year due to uncertainty of the coalition outcome – it’s not clear what criteria the opposition parties would use to field national assembly and local government candidates, and this has forced a number of interested candidates to hold on a bit. 
Though this might be too early to conclude that coalition talks are negatively affecting MDC-T’s preparations for the 2018 general elections, pointers are saying exactly that right now especially in Chivi Central where Zanu PF is fighting against no external opposition, with eight candidates said to be readying themselves for the party primaries.
Incumbent Chivi Central legislator Ephraim Gwanongodza is facing stiff competition from seven party members who want to replace him at party primaries. Gwanongodza has already expressed his interest to seek re-election in 2018 and will battle it out with Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana, Wellington Mapuvire, one Major Mahapa, Susan Madzivadondo, Albert Meke Chamwadoro, Maburitse and Austin Hakunavanhu.
Above mentioned are already doing different developmental projects in Chivi Central as they strategically position themselves ahead of party primaries and this can show how Zanu PF is serious about winning the 2018 general elections. Though Zanu PF is yet to come up with candidates selection criteria, interested members are already using their resources to prepare for the primaries hoping that they will be eligible to contest.
Gwanongodza has managed to fulfill quite a number of projects he promised during the 2013 elections. He is one of the best Zanu PF legislators in Masvingo province in terms of performance. He built classroom blocks for more than three schools, poultry projects for women and initiated a soccer tournament for the youths. Gwanongodza, however, is accused of being a Generation 40 (G40) loyalist and this might spoil his chances of winning the primaries considering that the other faction, Team Lacoste is currently controlling the province.
Team Lacoste supports Mangwana who is trying to resurrect after losing dismally to Gwanongodza at the 2013 primaries. Mangwana fell out of favour with the Chivi Central electorate after he allegedly did nothing when he was voted into office in 2008. Therefore, he has to do a lot of work to convince the electorate that he is indeed a changed politician. Maybe, Team Lacoste faction will assist him to perform wonders otherwise Gwanongodza would embarrass him again.
Madzivadondo, who is the provincial secretary general for Zanu PF women’s league, will likely give Gwanongodza and other candidates a hard time. She is very active and being in the provincial executive gives her a bit of advantage. Madzivadondo’s biggest challenge is that none of the two factions is prioritising her as their main candidate. The same challenge faces Maburitse, Major Mahapa, Hakunavanhu and Chamwadoro.
Mapuvire might get a bit of support from war veterans but would that support propel him to the top at the primaries? I doubt very much. Though he is a former provincial executive member, Mapuvire is not a front runner of the two factions and that will be a major blow to his ambition to represent Chivi Central at the national assembly.
Chamwadoro is a perennial loser. Since he tested power through a by-election at the turn of the millennium, he has been contesting and losing every primary election. Probably, he is affected by the limited resources he has so he will not stand a chance against well-resourced candidates like Gwanongodza and Mangwana.
Hakunavanhu is being affected by trying to be a neutral – you need to have a faction in Zanu PF in order to win an election. As long as he continues to distinguish himself as a non-factional member, Hakunavanhu will lose the primaries. He might do all the expected ground work but 2018 is a battle of factions in Zanu PF; it is either G40 or Team Lacoste. Period!
Maburitse is said to be claiming to be a member of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO). He is reported to be part of the Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa team but that would not give him any advantage though. His chances are slimmer than Madzivadondo, Mangwana and Gwanongodza.
There is also Major Mahapa from the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) who operates under the Command Agriculture banner. Mahapa has done quite a number of projects including provision of free medical check-ups to the Chivi Central people. If he continues with those kind of projects, he might stand a chance to represent the people of Chivi Central in the national assembly.
Winner from Zanu PF will face candidates from other political parties at 2018 general elections. Dr Tapiwa Murambi who lost to Gwanongodza on July 31, 2013, is the only candidate from MDC-T who is said to be interested.
Other political parties like NCA, FreeZim and PDZ will field candidates for the sake of visibility and most of these candidates fall short of the qualities of good leaders.

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Chivi Central comprises experienced candidates. Dr Murambi joined MDC-T during its inception and has been contesting and losing Chivi Central elections. He is a medical doctor with at least a degree in medicine.
Mangwana is a lawyer by profession with at least a degree in law. He is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Chivi Central and has been a Zanu PF central committee member for more than 10 years. Mangwana was the co-chairperson of COPAC, representing Zanu PF, during the constitution making process. As a learned politician, Mangwana feels he still needs another term to represent the people of Chivi Central though concentrating on his law firm would be the best decision for him.
Gwanongodza has at least a diploma in accounting. He claims to be a war vet. The incumbent legislator is one of the biggest beneficiaries of Zanu PF projects having a sugarcane farm in Chiredzi and a housing scheme in Masvingo town. Gwanongodza deserves another term considering the number of developmental projects he implemented in Chivi Central.
Madzivadondo is a former school head with at least a diploma in education. She has been a member of Zanu PF for more than two decades and is the current provincial secretary general of the women’s league. Being a former teacher, Madzivadondo articulates issues very well and has equal chances of winning the primaries.
Mapuvire is a war veteran and a local businessman. Mapuvire family is very popular in Chivi and that might help him to attract some votes. Mapuvire however, lacks factional branding and that might be a big blow to his ambitions.
Hakunavanhu is a school head in Chivi; he has been a member of Zanu PF for more than three decades. He at least has a diploma in education. Hakunavanhu articulate issues very well, however, his approach to politics is more applicable in developed countries where the ground is level. He does not believe in factionalism and that could be his biggest undoing. In Zanu PF especially in Masvingo province, one has to be either Team Lacoste of G40 in order to survive.
Opposition parties therefore, are too relaxed or should speed up the coalition negotiations so that interested candidates for various constituencies would start preparing. Zanu PF is already a step forward in terms of preparing for national assembly 2018 general elections and opposition parties might find it difficult to match the ruling party’s candidates if they would join the race on the 11th hour.

Nyika ino mavondonga vakomana! Mapombi never ever thought Zimbabwe will be this useless one day. Even about all the horrible and evil dreams I had, most of which have come to pass, I never dreamt a Zimbabwe so useless like this.
But Mapombi has since discovered kuti vanhu ganda kumeso havana wena. Chinonzi kunyara havachizive zvachose! They are no different from ticks; they remain stuck and even try to suck blood from the carcass. Hamunyare makaita seiko?
Zimbabwe cannot afford to have a President who loves other countries more than his own to an extent that he flies out of the country more often than not. Kunakidzwa nekunaka kwakaita dzimwe nyika here kana kuti it’s that excitement of wanting to travel which in many children and the elderly? Today the President is in Singapore, tomorrow in Ghana and the day after tomorrow he is in Mexico gobbling millions of dollars. Not Bond Notes but United States dollars.
Honestly, Mapombi has never thought that the First Family will go that far and try to create a Mugabe dynasty but ooops, vari kutorovera bhora mberi chaiko. But those who care to remember Mapombi once told you that Zanu PF is on the verge of creating a Mugabe dynasty vazhinji vakanditi ndiri murwere wepfungwa manje chionai zvava kuitika. Makangotarisa for that matter.
Last year it was Simba appointed whatever at Air Zimbabwe – whether he qualified for the job or not is another matter altogether but what I know is there are quite a number of people who can perform far much better than him. The airline is totally grounded and there is nothing worthy writing or telling about Simba since he joined Air Zimbabwe except that Mugabe is no longer using the airbuses to fly to Malaysia or Singapore – vava kutoita zvekuita hire private jet. That sums up how they have destroyed Air Zimbabwe – I mean the whole management including Simba murume waBona.
As if that is not enough, Bona is now being appointed to government boards. Kkkkkkkkk with no experience whatsoever Bona pfee-e muCensorship Board. Mungamudii iye aine surname yekuti Mugabe? Ende hapana zvamunombomuita.
Patrick Zhuwao, Mugabe’s nephew, akati it’s not enough mainini huyai tidye zvemarema kuEmpower Bank where she will be a board member again. For those who have eyes you can agree with me kuti zvinhu zvava kutoipa izvi. Bona ari kutopinda bit by bit ka uyu.
Are you forgetting that this is the same way Grace snatched the Women’s League top position?  Kungotukirira Joice Mujuru then Grace was rewarded by being appointed Women’s League boss. Kkkkkk inga kutuka vamwe zvakunobhadhara.
Mapombi would like to tell you that Bona atopinda – not very long form now, she will join active politics. I am sure she will contest in one of the constituencies or will be appointed non-constituency MP by her father President Mugabe. With the serious bootlicking in Zanu PF, this is very much possible.
It’s funny and embarrassing at the same time how Zhuwao tried to defend his inexperienced amainini and justified her inclusion in the Empower Bank board. Hanzi she has a degree and Master degree in business and vast experience kkkkkkk bamboo vangu iwe nxi nxi nxi.
Anyway, Zimbos will never say a thing even if you appoint the whole family into various boards. In fact we look forward to hearing that Robert Junior and Chatunga have been appointed board members into this and that board. We are very much waiting for that and we know the appointments are not very far.
Zimbabweans will not even say a thing even if the President appoints his wife to become one of his vice presidents ahead of a deserving Mnangagwa. Mapombi knows it’s a curse to be a Karanga in Zimbabwe thus Mnangagwa is being blocked from taking over from Mugabe. No wonder why people like Kasukuwere, the Zezurus, are not being fired from the party but ingoita mukaranga ungonzi you want to topple the president kkkkkkk chokwadi zuva hariviri unenge wadzingwa kare.
They tried but in vain kudzinga Chadzamira so they can put their ‘puppets’ but zvakakona n’anga murapwa achida.    MaKaranga akazosvinurawo and they are saying hatichatya hatichada!
Anyway, help me guys to welcome Bona to the world of politics. Ko chimupaika fake PhD abve aitawo doctor zviite chiremera kkkkkkk. There is no way she would fail when her mom completed her PhD in just three months pachikomo cheruzivo, UZ. I can’t wait to hear Zanu PF bigwigs and bootlickers dressing her as the most learned young woman Dr Bona Mugabe kkkkkk. But Zanu so! Mahwani.

MUTARE – Robson Chigora and Constance Nyasango were earlier this week crowned champions of the second edition of the Dangamvura Old Mutual 10 km Fun Run in the male and female categories respectively.
In the male category Chigora won US$400 after hitting the finishing line in 30 minutes 46 seconds, while second-placed Millian Matende crossed the finishing line in 30 minutes 53 sec and went away with US$300. The defending champion Jocob Mugomeri came third and won US$250.
Nyasango successfully defended her title in female category and went home with US$400 after she crossed the finishing in 37 minutes 22 sec while Chiedza Chokore and Patience Murowe came second and third respectively.
Speaking at the event, Manicaland Athletics board chairperson Joshua Matume thanked Old Mutual for the support and sponsorship of the race which continues to attract athletes from across the country.
“The race was well-organised, we are happy with the attendance although. We failed to reach last year’s figures because of the school holiday, but the fact that most of the country’s top athletes took part in the race is a good achievement.
“The race also ensures fitness among our athletes and it is also good as we prepare for the Old Mutual 21 km Vumba Half Marathon Race that is coming later this year,” said Matume.
Old Mutual general manager (Properties) Gilbert Gumbo said the race was a way of ensuring fitness and showing support of sports in Manicaland province.
“This race comes as a reaffirmation off Old Mutual’s support for the development of sports in the province. As we draw towards the end of the year, Old Mutual will again provide another exciting platform for athletes in form of the Vumba Mountain Run,” said Moyo.sport

CHIREDZI – Triangle FC fans who were disappointed by the team’s lacklustre showing in its recent games have called for a total overhaul of the technical department if the current trend does not change, lest the side’s chances in the 2017 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) become imperilled.
The fans were reacting to the team’s failure to capitalise on home ground advantage when they met Black Rhinos at Gibbo Stadium in an encounter that ended with a one all draw.
While some fans feel that club chairperson Lovemore Matikinyidze is not doing a good job, others think the technical department must be changed altogether before the team plays more games.
“This is poor performance and we think Matikinyidze must give way to others who can do the job better. We have played almost ten games and nothing thrilling has come out of it. We love this club so much that we don’t want to see it going down,” said a supporter in the wake of the Black Rhinos draw.
Attempts to get a comment from Matikinyidze were fruitless as his mobile went unanswered by the time of going to press but club coach Taurai Mangwiro said there was still hope for the team and its current structures.
“We know we can turn things around and hopefully it will happen soon. What we need right now is to work very hard as a unit but we have been affected by injuries,” said Mangwiro.

GWERU – The success recorded by the Command Agriculture Programme provides sufficient grounds to believe that an extension into Command Livestock Programme will give more impetus to the country’s drive towards food security and economic growth, Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said.
Addressing a public lecture at Midlands State University (MSU) in Gweru recently, Mnangagwa said the purpose of Command Agriculture was, among other things, to ensure food security and maize supply self-sufficiency as well as to reduce grain imports.
The address, titled ‘Command Agriculture in Zimbabwe: Myths, Lessons and Future’, touched on issues of what needs to be done from now going forward.
“Cabinet recently authorised that we proceed with the Command Livestock Programme targeting beef, dairy and poultry, and the production of associated equipment.
“The timing of these events is such that the livestock sector will benefit from the high grain production this year, through stock feed.
“This will trigger economic activity as agro-processing companies, transporters and retail and related services will be distributing to farmers, creating additional employment,” Mnangagwa said.
Analysts are convinced that if implementation of the Command Livestock Programme is properly managed, the country could restore its erstwhile status as one of the prime beef producers of the world.
“Going forward, I want to challenge all scholars, policy makers, agronomists, agricultural planners, nutritionists and national security establishments to draw lessons from progress made so far in order to further enhance the success of the programme with a view to extend it to other agricultural sub-sectors like high value crops for export among other items,” Mnangagwa said.
Challenging universities to be centres of excellence for agricultural innovation, research and development, Mnangagwa also said government was aware that factors like irrigation and mechanisation, soils testing and water harvesting were critical for successful food security initiatives.
