Performing artistes in Chipinge South have organised a
peace gala that will take place at Checheche Shopping Complex and Chiororo
Sports Bar at Checheche on Saturday, September 28.
Running under the theme, ‘Arts for Peace’, the will
see artistes showcasing their talent in five categories namely poetry, drama,
Zim Dancehall, mbira and sungura.
“Artistes are ready to perform at the show and we have
managed to register a manageable number of them. Those that we registered held a
combined rehearsal at Chiororo Sports Bar on 14 September. Individual rehearsals
are still going on,” said chief organiser Hazvinei Masaanduka.
He
said he was humbled by the response from artistes.
“Artistes
in Chipinge south are keen to hold several of our peace galas. The artistes
range from teenagers who sing Zim Dancehall to elderly mbira players. I am
humbled by how they responded to our call,” said Musaandaka.
“Representatives
of the Civic Society and Churches Joint Forum (CSCJF), a non-profit organisation
spearheading peace initiatives in the country will be our guest of honour,”
said Musaandaka.
Chiororo
Sports Bar (Pamusharu) proprietor, Gideon Chiororo revealed told TellZim News
he donated the venue for the gala as part of his contribution to the promotion
of peace.
“Violence
is destructive to property so as a member of Checheche Business Association we
support any peace programme and community development initiatives,” said
Chiororo.
