A self-proclaimed prophet of no fixed abode last week murdered his drinking partner on their way home after a beer binge Chamazizi Shopping Centre (Best known as PaShed) after an unclear misunderstanding July 20, 2023 around 1200hrs in Zaka.

Masvingo Provincial assistant police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Lorraine Ndlovu confirmed the incident and urged people not to resolve disputes while they are under the influence of alcohol.

She said the suspect was still at large saying investigations were still underway.

“I can confirm that we received a report where a 29 year old man was murdered while on his way home after an argument with another man on their way home. As police we would like to urge members of the public to solve their issues when they are in their sober senses,’’ said Ndlovu.

Sources said the deceased Munyaradzi Rugwevera of Ruzvidzo village under Chief Nyakunhuhwa, was stabbed by Tawedzerwa Nezvikonde who disappeared from the scene.

“As they were walking home, they passed near Albert Masuku’s (36) homestead who is Matembudze who overheard them arguing, and he realized that Nezvikonde was not happy with the conduct of the deceased,” said the source

It is said that around 2pm a grade 1 pupil who was coming from Mudzara Primary School using the same road saw the deceased’s body and informed Masuku who rushed to the scene and saw discovered Rugwevera lying by the road and tried to wake him but he did not respond.

He then called a local member of the police constabulary, he then informed Zaka police who attended the scene and saw stab wounds on the deceased’s back, above the right breast and one on the centre of the chest, and they also established that there were no signs that the two were fighting.
