GUTU – A short-tempered man was last week summoned by Gutu police and counseled after he assaulted his father for selling mice while living none for his family.
Edmore Mushininga from Vhondo Village under Headman Chisvino assaulted his father, Farai Mushininga, who had arrived home from a beer drink at a homestead in the same village.
Villagers told TellZim News that Edmore’s father is well known in the area for catching mice and on that particular day, he had sold some mice to raise money for the beer.
After a beer drink together, Farai and his son returned home together but Edmore was angry at being served sadza with green vegetables, accusing his father of selling good meat when there was none at home.
He also complained that his father had eaten the fish he had bought the previous day in Mpandawana.
“The father was aware that his son habitually assaulted him and did not respond to his accusations. However, Edmore went on to severely assault him for selling the mice.
“His father reported the assault to the police at Gutu and Edmore was summoned to the police station where he was counseled by the Community Relations and Liaison Officer. He was also warned against assaulting his father in future,” a family member revealed.
Villagers expressed shock and dismay at Edmore’s behavior saying he is a self-employed brick molder who is not expected to be involved in petty fights, let alone assault his father over food.news
