ZIFA Eastern region division one log leaders are edging closer of championship after dismissing hapless Surry United 3-0 in a league match played at Chishamiso Stadium in Chiredzi on Sunday.
The Moses Bambo Chunga-coached team has amassed an unassailable 54 points from 21 games while the second placed Mutare City has 39 points from the same number of games  . The  lowveld team only lost once and drew thrice.
Despite his fine run,Bambo has remained modest and said he does not want to be carried away with the team’s performance.
” While our chances to land the second premiership title in the lowveld after Triangle are clear,we will never relax. We have to keep winning all remaining games and every match is very important,” he said.
The outspoken gaffer who surprised many by moving to unfashionable division one said his side will be the team to beat even in the premiership.
“It is almost certain that we are going to be playing in the topflight next season and we would stand for our own in the league.
Notwithstanding the fact that I can change heart and move, Hippo Valley will compete for honours in the premiership,” said Chunga.
Mutare City maintained its second position by upstaging the stubborn Gaza Gunners by one goal to nil in Mutare.
