MBERENGWA – MDC-T district women’s league secretary Alice Shumba recently lost property worthy thousands of dollars after her house was razed down by fire.
Though TellZim News could not get hold of Shumba, who resides in ward 36 Neta resettlements, she was said to have failed to retrieve any of the property from the burning house.
The cause of the fire was not clear by the time of going to print but other MDC-T district leaders have refused to rule out foul play saying the victim resides in a Zanu PF stronghold, a factor which might have motivated some hardline party zealots to try to drive her out of the area in the run up to the 2018 general elections.
However, some people in the ward suspect that the fire could have been started by small boys who were sleeping in the dining room and playing with match sticks.
Speaking to this publication MDC-T Midlands secretary for information Munyaradzi Mutandavari expressed sadness over the loss saying he hoped it was not a politically-motivated attack.
He however urged people not to use violence to settle political scores but to resolve their differences amicably.
The leadership was also quick to respond to Shumba’s loss, donating US$110 for food and promised to reconstruct the damaged house.
“We have donated a sum of $110 we put together towards food stuffs so as to cater for the most urgent physiological needs first and we will deal with other things with time,” Mutandavari said.
He called upon other MDC-T supporters in the province to come forward and extend a helping hand to assist Shumba.news
