GUTU – Prominent Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T)member and candidate for the Gutu Central parliamentary seat in the previous general elections, Kenneth Nemachema has died.
Nemachena died at his home in Budiriro, Harare, in the early hours of Monday, July 18 2016.
The cause of his death was revealed as a high blood pressure-related illness which many suspect could have been aggravated by the death of his father in April this year.
Born in 1967, Nemachena is survived with his wife and five children.
He was laid to rest at his rural home in Dondo village under chief Nyamandi near Dewure business center on July 20, 2016.
Gutu MDC activist, Llyod Mupfudze said it was not only the party which had lost a dedicated member, but the country at large as it had lost a pillar and a father.
“Nemachena was one of MDC founding members. He was our district finance secretary and our losing candidate. He is a former councilor for Budiriro in the Harare city council. He also worked under Engineer Elias Mudzuri for some years,” said Mupfudze.
Besides being an active politician, Nemachena was also a successful businessman; being the owner and director of Digital Office Systems which provides ICT equipment to almost all high and primary schools in Gutu.
Currently, he was a member of SDC at Dewure High School and is a former chairperson of Dewure at SDC where he also did his secondary education.
“We have lost a dedicated part cadre that stayed in jail for more than a year at the instigation of ZANU PF. He was currently assisting many needy pupils with school fees at Dewure High and Primary schools,” added Mupfudze.
Nemachena was scheduled to accompany Dewure High School soccer team to Gwanda for COPA finals.
At the funeral were senator Misheck Marava, Muchirairwa Mugidho, Elias Mudzikiri, staff and children from Dewure High School.news
