28 April 2017, MWENEZI – A 59-year-old man who engaged in several sexual encounters with his 14-year-old step-daughter and infected her with genital herpes was recently slapped with a 4-year jail sentence.
Appearing before Magistrate Honest Musiwa, the man, (who cannot be named to protect the minor) of Village 6 Baloyi, Chief Chitanga, was convicted on his own plea of guilty.
The man said he was in “love” with the minor and pleaded with the court to be lenient on him since he was on medication.
“Ndinomwa mapiritsi your worship…,” said he said. The court however told him that he will be given the freedom to take his medication while in prison.
It was the State’s case that some time in December last year, the man took advantage of his wife’s absence from home and proposed love to the 14-year-old step-daughter who accepted the offer. He then had sex with the minor on several occasions with her consent.
The matter however came to light last month after the girl’s mother became suspicious before setting a trap and catching her husband and her daughter having sexual intercourse in her bedroom. She immediately filed a police report leading to her husband’s arrest.
A medical report that was produced in court reveals that the girl engaged in sexual encounters and had developed genital herpes. Willard Chasi appeared for the State.local
