31 March 2017, MASVINGO – National People’s Party (NPP) elected its Masvingo provincial executive over the weekend with former Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) Gutu Central legislator Oliver Chirume entrusted to chair.
Chirume takes over from Dr William Zibenge who was elevated to the national executive together with Jeffryson Chitando, Rodney Makausi, Tichaona Sithole, Panganai Chiduma, Elizabeth Mukungunugwa, Oliver Huruva, Eustina Zingwena and Robert Mukuwu.
“The elections were successful and peaceful and democratic. I will however be referring most questions to the newly elected spokesperson Cyprian Mukamba as I was elected to be a national member.
“The Province is now being headed by Chirume being deputised by Owen Mudzivo. Simon Makuvise was elected Secretary General, Trust Muganji Youth League Chairperson, Nyengeterai Dhliwayo Women’s League Chair and Nyasha Shamhu being the Freedom Fighters wing leader,” Chitando confirmed.
During the elective meeting, the province also endorsed Mujuru to be the party’s uncontested leader, voted Siphepa Nkomo and John Mvundura to be the party’s Vice Presidents.
Dzikamai Mavhaire also won the National Chairperson’s post.
The Secretary General and Treasurer General posts were also up for grabs with Gift Nyandoro and Willbert Mubaiwa winning the posts respectively.local, politics
