Chipinge man rapes mentally challenged girl

CHIPINGE – A 42-year-old Chipinge man was recently arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 14-year-old mentally-challenged juvenile.
Simeon Ziyapi, of Gumira village under Chief Mapungwana, pounced on the girl while she was alone at home and dragged her into the bushes where he raped her.
Chipinge district police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera confirmed the incident.
“The accused, Ziyapi, was building a toilet at the residence of the complainant’s mother but later took advantage of the situation when the juvenile was left home alone in the morning.
“After the act, the girl was threatened and ordered not to tell anyone about the rape otherwise she would be assaulted but she nonetheless gathered enough courage and told her mother who then reported the matter to the police,” said Ass Insp Kadzuraumera.
He urged the public not to leave children with disabilities alone as they are at a bigger risk of getting raped than anybody else.local

CHIPINGE – A 48- year-old Chipinge man was recently arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping his own five-months-old daughter.
The estranged father, Johannes Maphosa of Wess Farm, Peg 3, allegedly made a plan to steal the baby from his wife, Elizabeth Mhlanga, from whom he is separated.
Chipinge district police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera confirmed the incident which occurred at Naffaton farm under chief Mutema.
Ass Insp Kadzuraumera said Maphosa was still assisting police to find the child.
“On the day in question, Maphosa went to Mhlanga’s residence at Naffaton Farm and entered her bedroom without permission. The two are no longer living together as they separated due to domestic disputes.
“Maphosa found Mhlanga sleeping and went on to pick up the baby and stormed out of the house but he realised that Mhlanga had seen him so he vanished into the maize fields.
“Mhlanga tried to go after him but to no avail. She decided to call for help from neighbours from her village but no one came to help. A police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused.
“The baby, Nyashadzashe Maphosa, is yet to be found, though his father is in police custody,” said Ass Inspector Kadzuraumera.local

CHIVI – Ward 6 prospective councillor, Godfrey Huruva Mukungunugwa, is working to endear himself to voters by mobilising resources to spruce-up facilities at the dilapidated Maramba Primary School.
Huruva, who is a member of the provincial arm of the Zanu PF youth league, has launched an ambitious bid to raise US$22 000 for the refurbishment of the school and US$6 000 had been by the time of writing.
The young politician is working closely with Maramba Primary School Development Committee (SDC) to make sure conditions improve as quickly as possible.
Last week, he organised a fundraising ceremony at the school where he encouraged parents to join hands for the betterment of the school.
The school suffered extensive damage during the La Nina-induced floods of the 2016/2017 rainy season and all its classroom blocks and furniture are in extremely bad shape.
The fundraising event was graced by Chivi Rural District Council (RDC) chairperson Dr Killer Zivhu, incumbent Ward 6 Councillor Cleopas Magwizi, Chief Chivi and Member of Parliament for Chivi North, Mathias Tongofa.
Zivhu donated 200 bags of cement and roofing material towards the cause.local

ZVISHAVANE – The fastest growing private school in Zvishavane, Devine Oasis Christian College, has relocated to number 631 Slatter Avenue.
This was necessitated by the desire to lift learning conditions in line with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education goals.
The college’s enrolment in Zvishavane has risen from 162 students in 2017 to 210 in 2018. Divine Oasis director, Nolbert Vherukai said he was humbled by the trust given to the college by the people of Zvishavane.

The school, he said, obtained a 100 percent pass rate in the 2017 ‘A’ level examination sitting.
“Our enrolment is rising and I am sure that testifies to the tireless hard work we are investing to make Devine Oasis a school of choice,” Vherukai said.
The school has an affordable fees structure and a uniquely low pupil/teacher ratio and it offers weekend lessons.
Besides Zvishavane, the school also has an established presence in Harare and Gokwe.education

Speaking to TellZim News, Powerhouse Night Club manager, Dennis Murewa said the focus was on changing the image of the club altogether by giving customers greater value for their money.
“Yes, the club is now under new management and we promised our old patrons to come and feel the new taste. New customers are also welcome as we definitely have great entertainment in stock for them,” said Murewa.
He said under the new management, the club will be used as a launch pad for upcoming artists to perform and showcase their talent to revelers.
“We want to make this club a mentorship ground for the young talented musicians that we have across the province. We believe such platforms will give them some vital lime light,” said Murewa.local

MVUMA – Many women who attended President Emerson Mnangagwa’s mini rally at Mvuma Stadium last Saturday wept hysterically when it was announced that first lady Auxillia Mnangagwa will not be contesting to retain the Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe seat.
President Mnangagwa told the crowd which braved the drizzle that his wife had relinquished the post of MP to concentrate on her new role as first lady.
Some women, however had started crying long before President Mnangagwa had announced the ‘sad news’, leading to suspicions that it could have been mere theatrics or a stage-managed show of emotions.
Mnangagwa said Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe had to choose another representative, with Midlands provincial youth chairperson Prosper Machando believed to be the most likely replacement.
Machando is respected by the local party leadership and supporters for ‘bravely defying former G40 youth boss, Kudzanai Chipanga, when it was risky to do so.’
Emmerson Mnagwagwa Jnr, another person identified only as Zvidzai, a Mrs Juru and an ex-soldier identified only as Dhlamini are also said to be planning to contest for the seat.
Many insiders, however, dismissed Mnangagwa Junior’s chances, saying the President’s son was not interested because the first family feared raising accusations of creating a dynasty.
“The President is a level-headed person so he knows such posts are awarded based on seniority and traceable records in the party. He will never let his son contest here,” a source said.
Another source said it was a foregone conclusion that Machando will take over because he was the most favoured.
 “He enjoys the goodwill of the first family due to the work he has done. The same applies to such prospective councillors as former Chegutu DA Makanzeyi Jecheche. Theirs is a done deal,” the source said.
When contacted for comment, Machando said many people had approached him, asking if he could represent them.
 “Our President always say ‘the voice of the people is the voice God’ so who am I to reject their request. What I have been taught in the party is to listen to people and not to force myself onto them,” said Machando.local

CHIREDZI – An operation being carried out by the town council to relocate informal traders to designated places has been criticised as haphazard and callous.
The operation is being done by the council’s health department with help from the Environmental Management Agency (Ema) but residents say vendors are being dumped in even dirtier places where council does not even collect refuse.
The town’s biggest vegetable market in the light industrial area known as ‘Kumagarage’ has been cleared and traders moved to a ‘dirtier’ place close by.
“The operation is unfair because we have been move to a place that are worse in terms of access to clean toilets and water. There are no rubbish bins here,” a vendor told TellZim News.
The heavy rains that pounded the town in recent days have added to fears that there could be a cholera or typhoid outbreak if authorities do not move with speed to improve conditions in the areas that the vendors are being moved to.
Chiredzi Residents and Ratepayers Association (CHIRRA) chairperson, Jonathan Mupamombe urged authorities to provide many bins at all places and ensure that refuse is regularly collected in the new trading places.
“Council should regularly remove garbage from the banana and vegetable market lest we have a serious disease outbreak,” said Mupamombe.

Mapombi can confidently tell you that the opposition has formed a new political outfit which will be formalised soon after the forthcoming elections. Those who attended the MDC Alliance rally would agree with me that Nelson Chamisa, Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube are smoking the peace pipe, and obviously looking at life beyond Tsvangirai. The trio has simply agreed to turn the alliance into a formidable political party called MDC Alliance with Chamisa as President, while Biti and Ncube will be the vice presidents respectively.
I know many of you will say Mapombi atanga kupenga but wait until after election mozonditi henyu ndinonyepa. I am seeing a situation where MDC-T vice president Elias Mudzuri achisara nedemhe rinonzi MDC-T but vanhu vaenda neMDC Alliance. Chamisa and company know that Tsvangirai will never return to active politics again so they are already working on life after him. On the other hand, Biti and Ncube have learnt a lot when they left Tsvangirai and they are desperate to correct their mistakes – it is cold out there and mukana wekuti vadzokedzane vagodyawo zvoita vamwe ndiwoyu.
Even if the alliance loses elections to Zanu PF, chances are very high that the guys will remain united and transform the alliance into a political party. On this one, Mapombi will bet with her last drop of blood, party yatoumbiwa iyi and brand raMorgan ratopedzwa nevakomana ava.  The way Ncube and Biti were talking while addressing the Masvingo rally over the weekend was a clear indication that chinhu chaenda ichi and the guys have serious interests. Why would Biti want to talk about Chamisa being the MDC-T acting president when we all know that he has nothing to do with the MDC-T since he left the party and formed his own little known PDP?  Chatova chinhu chavo ichi.
Anyway, Mapombi is slowly but surely getting baffled with this new error. How can a whole President read prepared speech at a rally? Kkkkkkkk panguva yaBob hatina kumbozviona izvi – Mugabe would go for two to three hours achingopaumba asina kana written speech zvayo but achitaura zvine sense manje izvi zvoitiwa nanaED izvi ee-eh hatisati takambozviona.
Mapombi will not hesitate to say this; ED needs serious coaching – vakuru vachiri kurasika chaiko. The biggest challenge is President Mnangagwa’s Special Advisor also needs a Very Special Advisor because many-a-times, Mutsvangwa is often offside. Unotoda kubatsirwa chaiko murume uya anonzi Mutsvangwa because he is too excited zvekuti dai ari munhukadzi waienderana naGrace.
The President does not need a whole prepared speech when addressing a rally; maybe a small paper with key points would be the best.  Shuwa murume mukuru kuti tsikitsiki achiverenga speech parally? Mapombi saw it happening pano paMvuma apa recently. Dai zvipo zvaikumbiranwa apa ndopamaimhanya kuna Bob kundokumbira charisma.
President ED, don’t read speeches at rallies, please. Spare speeches for official functions. Also don’t speak like you are preaching at a ZCC or Mapositori church gathering.  May you find someone who can coach you how to deliver speeches – e-eh hazvinyadzise izvo I remember Tsvangirai was once worse than you but kubvuma kudzidziswa kunobatsira. Not with Mutsvangwa obvious, but with someone who is a professional in the area.  I am sorry to say this Mr President but your special advisor also needs a very special advisor. Dokora far much better than Mavima
Can someone tell me something; is this Professor called Paul Mavima a real professor?  Mapombi is not that educated but doubts very much if this guy is indeed a professor. Or probably he is the professor of incompetence and confusion.  If there is any ministry which has been blemished, it is the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
It’s like jumping out from a frying pan into a veld fire. Mapombi was so convinced that Dr Dofora, I mean Dokora was the worst minister ever to ever preside over the ministry but hey ndaizvinyepera kwakazouya Professor Paul Mavima. Uyu Muvhimi chaiye chaiye and he should have been given a Wildlife ministry zvipedzerane nemhuka ikoko not kuti ave in charge nevana vedu.
Mapombi is still wondering how can a whole Professor decided to nullify O’ Level results after three months over a silly allegation that there was overwhelming evidence of cheating by candidates. Is English Paper Two the only paper which leaked if I may ask Mr Professor?  What you have done is even more damaging than dai makatsvaga a way to moderate the results like changing the grading system.
Mapombi heard Muvhimi is related to the president so haabve zvekumhanya but the noble thing is just to resign. Even Esau Nhandara should have tendered his resignation letter by now. Mapombi knows that these guys are desperate to impress ED, especially after given those 100 days but you don’t impress him by nullifying one paper. Find better things to impress with.
 I have heard many parents suggesting that Dofora was far much better than uyu professor uyu and I think they are right. The professor is indeed a burden on our education sector – dai zvaibvira maidzora henyu Dofora pane mashura iwaya. Even the new curriculum is something else and parents and teachers were expecting that the new minister would review it vachibvisa zvimwe zviri very unnecessary but he is even worse than Dokora. Mapombi is good at spotting talent and I can confidently tell you that our new first lady is a real drama queen. The way she acted and performed at Mvuma rally left Mapombi with no doubt that she could have even perform better the Mai Rwizi character in the drama Mukadota or Amai Azuka of Nigerian movies.
She sobbed during the rally wena after the announcement that she was not going to contest for the Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe constituency in the forthcoming elections. Mapombi would want to believe the tears were just crocodile tears. In fact, the way the other women cried after the announcement clearly indicated that everything was pre-planned and rehearsed. GWERU – The tension between the army and police played out in the Gweru Magistrates’ Court on Monday when members of the respective forces thronged the gallery to support their own.
A CID operative, Gift Gorongonya, appeared in the court charged with attempted murder for shooting an army corporal, Zico Shumba, on Saturday last week.
Emotions were high, with the police officers keen to show that they were united against the undermining of their authority after Operation Restore Legacy reduced their respectability in the eyes of the public.
On Sunday last week, it was reported that after the shooting incident, soldiers stormed and surrounded Gweru Police Station, forcing its temporary closure.
The State’s case, as presented by Hellen Khosa, is that on February 10, Shumba was on his way to HQ 5 Brigade Kwekwe when he saw a man being assaulted by Gorongonya.
The driver stopped and Shumba disembarked and went to establish what was happening but Gorongonya’s accomplice threatened him with a gun.
Shumba disarmed the accomplice, took the magazine and ran towards the army bus in which he was travelling.
This prompted Gorongonya to draw his fire arm and shoot at the army corporal who fell to the ground although the shot missed him.
The accused followed Shumba and shot him once on the lower limb.
Gorongonya was granted $50 bail and asked to reappear in court on February 26.local

Zvishavane gold panners imprisoned 106 years for murder

GWERU – Six Zvishavane gold panners were on February 7 sentenced to a combined 106 years in prison after being convicted of murder by Bulawayo High Court Judge, Nokhutula Moyo.
The six are Andrew Sibanda, Tawanda Shumba, Pardon Ndlovu, Noel Zhou, Innocent Malunga and Reason Ndlovu.
Of the combined sentence, each will get between 16 to 18 years imprisonment.
It was the State’s case that sometime in 2017, Shumba was assaulted by some residents after a failed robbery in Masvingo.
His friends heard about the assault and they went on a rampage assaulting anyone that they met as a way of retaliation.
The indiscriminate assaults resulted in one resident Jabulani Aaron seeking refuge at the now deceased Edmore Mapota house.
Sibanda, Shumba, Ndlovu, Zhou, Malunga and Reason followed Aaron and stabbed him on the back three times. When Mapota started assisting the stabbed man, he was fatally struck with a log on the head resulting to his instant death.
The court heard that Mapota died on sport and the culprits ran away.
The gang was later apprehended by the police.local
