Abomination: Sex at funeral pair earns disgrace

Beatific Gumbwanda

CHIREDZI – Mourners were left disgusted by a man from Gweru who was caught having sex with another woman at his own wife’s funeral in Makondo two weeks ago.
Luscious Chiturumani came to Chiredzi to bury his wife Sibongile Mthetwa who died reportedly after a short illness. Sources said he was accompanied by another woman whom he introduced to the bereaved family as his niece and he was received with respect meriting a son-in-law.
The deceased was buried in Chiredzi at her parents’ place in accordance with the burial custom for married woman who die before full bride price has been paid for them.
The two were then given a house where they were supposed to sleep in separate rooms. TellZim News learnt that the young man who had been assigned to show them their sleeping places forgot to give them blankets. He then returned with the blankets but only to be shocked seeing the pair in one room naked.
An eye witness who spoke to TellZim News said the young man sounded no alarm despite being utterly shocked by the immoral act.
He then calmly alerted other mourners and many people went to the room to witness the abomination for themselves
“Chiturumani lied that the woman who accompanied him was his niece and both of them were treated with respect only to do something so shameful. The two were thoroughly beaten but they managed to escape into a car and drive back to Gweru half naked,” said the mourner.local

Mwenezi cop looks after seven women

MWENEZI – Alfred Kudenga, a police officer based at Rutenga Police Station, besides currently taking care of his two wives, is also looking after five other children whom he sired from five different women, the Mwenezi Civil Court recently heard.
Kudenga dragged Brenda Moyo to the civil court seeking the reduction of the US$70 maintenance money he is currently paying for the upkeep of their two-year old child.
Through his defence lawyer Kossam Chuma, Kudenga argued that considering the large number of his dependents, the monthly maintenance he gave to Moyo was too high. He said it was reasonable that it be reduced to US$30 per month.
Chuma, who in his defence attached some of the birth certificates of Kudenga’s children from five different mothers, pointed out that his client – besides shouldering the responsibility of looking after the five children – was also currently catering for two wives.
Taking into consideration Kudenga’s responsibility, magistrate Langton Ndokera consented to the defence lawyer’s submissions and ordered the reduction of the monthly maintenance that was being received by Moyo to US$30 per month.local

Save Valley Conservancy illegal settlers must stay put: Zanu PF

Beatific Gumbwanda

CHIREDZI – Zanu PF Masvingo provincial secretary for information, Ronald Ndava says with an election around the corner, it would be foolhardy for government to relocate the more than 15 000 people who illegally settled in Save Valley Conservancy.
The conservancy, located in south-eastern Lowveld bordering Save River to the east, is one of the largest private game reserves in Africa.
It comprises 750 000 acres of diverse wildlife habitat but was invaded by thousands of land-hungry people at the height of the Land Reform Programme in the early 2000s. The settlers have resolutely resisted calls for them to leave or to be relocated.
The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) recently conducted a survey as part of plans to fence off the conservancy and relocate the people.
The process, however, came to a halt after the Provincial Administrator (PA) Fungai Mbetsa distanced himself from the process reportedly due to pressure from ruling party politicians who feared the settlers would avenge themselves by voting for the opposition.
Speaking to TellZim News, Ndava said authorities must, instead, relocate animals to other large wildlife habitats such as Gonarezhou National Park and Malilangwe Conservancy.
He attacked the European Union (EU), the biggest donor in conservation efforts in the Lowveld, for trying to use its money to stampede government into toeing its own line.
“Our primary concern is people, not animals. We heard that the Provincial Administrator was complaining that everything was happening behind his back and without his knowledge.
“We have better places to relocate those animals; such places as Gonarezhou and Malilangwe. We will never support the prioritisation of animals over people. It is government which resettled those people and it won’t make sense to reverse that in favour of the European Union position,” said Ndava
Save Valley Conservancy houses most of Southern Africa’s prime game species including ‘The Big Five’ (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino).local

School heads fume at minister

Professor Paul Mavima

…say new curriculum exposes girl child to sexual abuse

Upenyu Chaota

MASVINGO – School heads have expressed concern with the new curriculum which they say exposes the girl child to abuse in the name of carrying out tasks.
Presenting their grievances to the minister of education Professor Paul Mavima at a symposium held at Civic Centre, school heads represented by Masvingo Christian College head Edison Muresherwa said the new curriculum was alright but there were some grey areas which needed serious review.
“We understand the concept of tasks was borrowed from universities. At university level, you find that students do about 36 modules and they only do one research.
“The same should apply to our pupils whom we feel need to do one task to avoid the situation whereby they loiter around town during learning hours,” said Muresherwa.
He said the safety of the children particularly the girl child is not guaranteed when they visit various offices exposing them to various forms of abuses.
“At my school, I have erected a security wall to keep all my pupils inside and safe but because we have to send them out on a regular basis to do various tasks, they are now vulnerable.
“We have heard of situations where our girls are told to return after working hours so that they can be assisted. Innocently our girls would go but what if something bad happens? Who will shoulder the blame?
“We need this area to be reviewed because the tasks are taking most time for our pupils,” said Muresherwa.
Prof Mavima however said the education system of Zimbabwe was of late more on the theoretical side hence producing people who were not compatible with the practical world.
“You are not the first to raise the issue of tasks. Our education system was too theoretical. We want to create people who are innovative and can fit into the practical world. This can only be possible if we start at an early age.
“We cannot abandon tasks. We can always find a way to deal with the security of our children. No policy is perfect hence we need to continue to make adjustments until everyone is happy,” said Prof Mavima.top news

Lacoste Chiredzi not yet done with G40

Kalisto Gwanetsa

Beatific Gumbwanda

CHIREDZI – Though President Emmerson Mnangagwa has preached unity and urged his supporters to shun retribution, bitter Zanu PF members who suffered victimisation at the hands of G40 before Operation Restore Legacy still want to revenge.
The bitterest of these people include Ailes Baloyi, Jevas Masosota and Ronald Ndava and they want to get rid of Members of Parliament (MPs) Kalisto Gwanetsa (Chiredzi South), Darlington Chiwa (Chiredzi West) and Denford Masiya (Chiredzi East).
Baloyi, Masosota and Ndava were severely victimised and later ‘expelled’ when Dr Paul Chimedza, Chiwa and Amasa Nhenjana took full control of the province weeks before the military operation.
They are now reportedly holding private meetings to map a strategy that will lead to the expulsion of the three from the party.
Baloyi, who is the Zanu PF provincial vice chairperson and Chiredzi South aspiring MP, told TellZim News in a telephone interview that the party must effectively rid itself of members of the defeated G40 cabal.
“We should never associate with these people who pushed for our expulsion from the party.  If it wasn’t for the ZDF, we could be talking something else now. Their actions should never go unchallenged,” said Baloyi.
Ndava, who is the provincial secretary for information, also expressed the same sentiments saying justice should prevail.
“A few months ago, those people who are complaining now were dismissing the so-called Team Lacoste and we never complained. Now that the tables have turned, they are now complaining, why?” said Ndava.
However, Gwanetsa said he had no time to quarrel with people who want him expelled from the party.
“I don’t have time to quarrel with people. Why does he want me expelled while my term of office is almost over? What does he fear? Let the people decide their fate,” said Gwanetsa, referring to Baloyi.
Last week, Zanu PF national political commissar Rtd Lt Gen Engelbert Rugeje said the party may forgive but will not forget, warning that those who have been forgiven for their G40 links must not go around boasting that they were untouchable.politics

Drama as G40 woman refuses to leave Zanu PF meeting

President Emmerson Mnangagwa

…asks for fair hearing

Upenyu Chaota

The once powerful Zanu PF Masvingo provincial women’s league boss Veronica Makonese, who fell from grace with the decimation of the G40 faction at the hands of the military-led Operation Restore Legacy, last Sunday successfully refused to be ejected from a provincial coordinating committee (PCC) meeting, arguing it was her right, as a party member, to attend.
A passionate Zanu PF follower, Makonese – who has however already been kicked from her post – shocked even her most determined detractors when she showed up at the meeting and resolutely refused to leave.
She bulldozed her way into an earlier meeting of the provincial executive committee (PEC) but was expelled.
The elderly Makonese then sat at the doorstep waiting for the PCC meeting, all the while taunting her tormentors and challenging them to give her a fair trial instead of banishing her, much to the embarrassment of senior party officials present.
“Ndiri munhuwo. Hamufaniri kundiita zvamuri kundiita izvi. Zanu PF musangano wedu tose. Musavenga munhu vengai mhosva. Kana ndine mhosva nditongei asi mu Zanu PF handidzingwi. (I am human so you should treat me with respect. Zanu PF is our party and if I have committed an offense I accept discipline but not to be dragged out of the party),” protested Makonese.
After the PEC, Makonese found her way into the PCC where provincial chairperson Ezra Chadzamira asked her to leave after the customary request for all non-PCC members to leave. Makonese however ignored all the calls to leave as well as attempts by the wider floor to sing and shout her out.
She remained seated and a security team was send to kick here out. The security team had a torrid time as Makonese stood her ground and refused to leave.
She went and bowed in front of Josaya Hungwe who did nothing to save her and advised her to comply.
Realising that the window was closing, Makonese sat on the floor and the security team tried to drag her but later gave up and allowed to stay.
She danced avidly to Kutonga Kwaro whenever it was played, and energetically joined in slogans praising President Emmerson Mnangagwa whose faction she bitterly fought before the military intervention.
In his speech later on, national political commissar Rtd Lt Gen Engelbert Rugeje said he was out to mend broken fences and forgive but will not forget.
“We will forgive but we will not forget. My job is to recruit more people into Zanu PF and not to expel. The people from Masvingo said ‘kumagumo kune nyaya’ and now that we have reached the end, some people have been caught on the wrong side and they cry foul.
“No one is bigger than the party and if the party says do this, you should listen because putting up a challenge will not help,” Rugeje.topnews

Mandadzaka Primary teachers threaten to leave over witchcraft

0

TellZim Reporter

BIKITA – Teachers at Mandadzaka Primary have notified the district education department that they are planning to leave the school en-masse if a senior staff member who is allegedly practicing witchcraft is not transferred.
Teachers who spoke to TellZim News said one of the senior staff members at the school (name supplied) had given them a terrible fright by casting spells at those he does not like.
The school is located roughly 30 km from Nyika growth point along Mutare Road, Fambirai village head under Chief Mazungunye.
The school’s secretary, Fiona Mtisi is the latest victim of the teacher’s alleged witchcraft acts. It all began towards the end of last term when she reportedly collapsed in her office under mysterious circumstances.
She has been ill ever since and her family has been travelling with her over the holidays, consulting prophets where the evil spirits cast upon her have reportedly manifested and pointed to the senior staff member as the culprit.
The frightened teachers, with the support of parents, are now demanding that either the alleged evil doer is removed from the school or they boycott classes and seek transfers when the new term begins.
“The matter was reported to the police but they advised us to go to headman Mazvimba as the case was neither criminal nor civil but customary. She has been served with summons from the headman but we are yet to see if she will come to court because she just disappeared from the school after noticing that the issue was becoming serious,” said a teacher who preferred anonymity.
The teacher also said district education officials visited the school on Saturday, December 30, and were surprised that the issue had not been reported earlier.
Another teacher said he feared the worst would happen if he remains at the school and will leave if the alleged culprit is allowed to stay.
“Hazvina kutanga nhasi, vadzidzisi vazhinji vakaroveswa nezvidhoma nemunhu uyu vamwe vachinzi mhosva dzavo ndedzekumukunda kudzidzisa nekutererwa nevana. Uyuwo secretary ari kufira yebasa rake. Zvakabatwa pachena kuti anoda kuti minin’ina wake atore basa iroro,” said a teacher who also spoke on condition of anonymity.
When contacted for comment, School head Alexander Masarira said he was yet to find out exactly what was happening with the district education office.
“I am still away enjoying my holiday in my home area and have not heard of that. I will find out with the district office,” said Masarira.local

Bikita Minerals targeted for not supporting Zanu PF

Rtd Lt Gen Engelbert Rugeje

Moses Ziyambi

MASVINGO – Zanu PF Masvingo province plans to confront Bikita Minerals which it accuses of isolating itself and failing to bankroll activities of the party now that the country is headed for elections in a few months’ time.
Speaking at a provincial coordinating committee (PCC) meeting held at Victoria Junior School Hall last week, Zanu PF national political commissar Rtd Lt Gen Engelbert Rugeje attacked Bikita Minerals for what he called was the mining company’s reluctance to play ball.
The purpose of the meeting was to formally introduce the newly-appointed Zanu PF politburo members and was attended by several MPs and high ranking officials in the party including secretary for legal affairs Paul Mangwana, national youth secretary Pupurai Togarepi, provincial secretary for security and national chief whip Lovemore Matuke, provincial affairs minister Josaya Hungwe and provincial chairperson Ezra Chadzamira.
In his remarks, reserved his harshest criticism for Bikita Minerals which he said needed to be shown who is in charge.
“Ndanzwa vamwe vambotaura nenyaya yeBikita Minerals, ndokwandinobva ikoko. Kunoda kumbosvikwa chairman. Hatidi kutaura tiri pano apa nekuti tingaita makuhwa amambotaura aya….Tinonatsa kunonzwisisa kuti chii chavari kuita….Musangano unotonga haufaniri kupemha. We must not be beggars. Tisu tiri kutonga, why should we beg?
“Misangano yakawanda yandinoziva inini pasi rino ukaenda kuCommunist Party of China, it’s one of the richest, richer than the Chinese government. Isu tiri mupower as Zanu PF toswera tichiswera tichitambura tichishaiwa mari yekuenda kuindependence.
“Tofanirwa kunge tine power tine chipimo chekuti tikangofunga kuti toda mutambo wedu izvezvi, totoita ipapo. Ndokutonga kwachozve. Ungati unotonga chirudzii usina masimba eeconomy yenyika, usina kubata economy yenyika? Masimba slogan? Masimba ekutenderera muchiita marally? Aiwazve, simba rokutonga rinoonekwa nekubata upfumi hwenyika….Ndozvatichakukumbirai kuti muite VaHungwe nevamwe venyu. Onai kuti musangano wapfuma, musangano waita mari….,” said Rugeje to roars of approval from the floor.
He said the hosting of party functions at school disturbed learning, arguing there was no reason why the party cannot build its own facilities to host events.
He said the party ought to be richer than the state, as he claimed was the case in China where the ruling communist party holds extensive economic leverage.
The lithium miner has however been investing considerable resources to uplift surrounding communities and supporting local developmental projects.
The company sponsors the Chief Marozva social football and netball tournament which this year attracted up to 13 teams. The company also donated quarry to Bikita Rural District Council for renovation of bridges as well as to KwaVaMuzenda heritage site in Mucheke.
In education, Bikita Minerals last year built and donated a fully-equipped computer lab to Bikita Fashu High School and last year built a quality ECD centre that can accommodate up to 100 children from the mine community and surrounding areas.
Besides, the mining company initiated a feeding scheme benefitting thousands of primary school children in the district. The scheme has been going on since 2015 and is credited for reducing the hunger-related school dropout rate in the district.politics

Mapombi’s New Year resolutions

0

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! Compliments of the new season! Mapombi had the most memorable festive holiday ever – a Christmas and New Year without Robert Mugabe – what else would you want pakadai vakomana.
But on a sad note, Mapombi will not enjoy the leftovers she normally gets at 21st February Movement celebrations pataipemberera bhavhadheyi raGushungo. That was too lavish vakomana millions of US dollars were spent celebrating birthday of an old man. In fact vafana vana Chipanga nana Hamandishe vaizvidyira zvavo vakomana vaya kutoita matumbu wena isu vana Mapombi tichirarama with rotten bananas and maputi.
I thank God Mugabe and his wife Grace are now history. But ummm we are likely to have another Grace very soon in the name of the new First Lady – amai vanenge vane dzungu ava mukanyatsovatarisisa speed yacho handiinzwisise ini.
Every day we hear she has visited this and that hospital saying kunoda kuiswa mitemo yakati neyakati wotoshaya kuti ko ivo kuParliament vaimboitei pese apa. Since she took over that constituency which has more animals than people we haven’t heard that she visited even one hospital in Zibagwe – Chirumanzu but since she became First Lady every day kuhospital. Madam First Lady, laws are made by legislators in Parliament, and you being a Member of Parliament (MP), you should have moved the motion kudhara dhara kwete kuswerotiitira noise apa, nxaa!
I think you should take this advice from your generous sister Mapombi Adonha – dzikamai amai bhora pasi mudenga hamuna ground. Don’t be too excited by being First Lady zvinodarika izvo. Don’t attract media attention for nothing kuda kungonyorwa mumapaper or kubuda paTV everyday musina chinomusoro chamunotaura. I hope you will take this advice seriously; it’s for your own good.
Anyway, now that we are now in 2018; Mapombi has few resolutions this year. The first is to lobby for good governance – Mapombi will, without fear or favour, expose anyone who engages in corrupt activities. I mean anyone whether Crocodile, Lizard, Hungwe, Fidze, or any other prominent names ndichangozvitaura chete.
But Hungwe so mahwani; mudhara haana kana ganda kumeso zvachose iyeyu. I heard he attempted to impose Ronald Ndava kuChiredzi North uko kwaRobert Mukwena simply because he hates the incumbent for no apparent reason. Aaah he has a reason and it’s because Mukwena once chanted a ‘Pasi naHungwe’ slogan sometime last year which infuriated our Minister of State.
“Dai Zvaibvira kuChiredzi North kwaiswa Ndava nekuti Mukwena wakamboti pasi naHungwe,” the old man was reported to have said during a meeting with all MPs in Masvingo province last week. Kkkkkkk maizviita nguva yaMugabe muchibudirira izvozvo mudhara now we are living under a new error and we cannot tolerate that. At least for now!
Mnangagwa said no to imposition of candidates. But chete President vari kungotaura a lot of sweet nothings because implementation rate is close to zero chairo. I think it’s high time the President start being pragmatic; yes we are excited that he hit the ground running but please be more pragmatic now than speechifying all the time.
I have so much hope for ED especially on solving the current economic crisis but my confidence dziri kuenda dzichipera. Anyway, I think I should not talk much about that because ED knows what awaits him come general elections in June. It’s very simple – sought the economy and get a five year mandate or ship out because hatidye mapromises isu. We want a better economy so that vana Mapombi toshandawo tigoroorwawo tigoitawo vana apa. Moda kuti ndife ndisina mwana senge ndisina chibereko here? Tikwanirei apa.
We have seen that it’s possible to change things in just few months; Morgan ‘Madzimai’ Tsvangirai showed us during inclusive government kuti zvinogoneka. I was a house girl during the inclusive government and ndaishandira teacher asi hupenyu hwaimbaifaya chaiko. I remember boss vangu vachitotengawo chingwa, mazai, margarine nezvimwe zvinonaka zvakaita sana beans but things suddenly changed after 2013 when Zanu PF took over. Had it not been Zanu PF veduwe I still could have been kubasa ndichitoshandira teacher but hey ndakazodzingwa asisakwanise kundibhadhara and I don’t blame him because things became difficult until now. I survive on rotten bananas and maputi because Zanu PF ruined my life. Hopefully Mnangagwa will bring back our smiles stolen by Zanu PF.
It’s almost lunch time guys ndichingodai kutaurisa let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch. But I have a lot of New Year resolutions and for sure I’m going to implement them. I am not going to waste my vote like I did in 2013, never.
Kkkkkkk by the way I heard Mphoko wants a golden handshake kkkkkk baba vaya mukati dzakati kwesere? After spending all those years in a five star hotel doing nothing but donating chicks and incubators munhu wotoda golden handshake? Zvimwe muchiti munotamba Cde. I am sure his wife misses hotel life, takambozvitaura kuti chisingapere chinoshura. Mboko imboko!mapombi

GZU lecturer Marungudzi dies

Dr Thadeus Marungudzi

Moses Ziyambi

Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) has lost yet another lecturer, Dr Thadeus Marungudzi who died at Makurira Memorial Clinic in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 04, 2018 after a yearlong battle with blood cancer.
Dr Marungudzi attained his PhD last year with the University of North West in South Africa and was a lecturer in the Department of English and Media Studies.
His death is a great loss to the university as it comes barely three weeks after the death of Dr Baxter Tavuyanago, a lecturer in the Department of History, Archaeology and Development Studies.
Dr Tavuyanago died on December 22, 2017 at Avenues Clinic in Harare. He had initially undergone operation of the prostate and had been treated at Makurira Memorial Clinic.
A lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance, Dr Simon Munongo died in Harare in September 2017 after a short illness.
Munongo acquired his PhD with the University of South Africa (Unisa) in 2016.
In May 2017, GZU lost Fungai Chiyadzwa, a Media and Cultural Studies lecturer. Chiyadzwa died at Makurira Memorial Clinic where he had been admitted for a minor abscess (mota) operation.
In April 2016, Jane Sigauke a lecturer in the then Department of Archaeology, Culture and Museums Studies (now called History, Archaeology and Development Studies) died of excessive bleeding at Masvingo Provincial Hospital where she had been transferred after undergoing a Caesarian section at Makurira Memorial Clinic.local
