23 March 2017, GWERU – Shurugwi-based Division One soccer outfit, Nichrut FC has raised considerable interest, with soccer fans wondering whether the road-side town soccer club will be able to host premiership games next year or not.
This comes after the Nichrut FC management gave the team’s new coach, John Nyikadzino, a carte blanche to acquire players with premiership experience.
The team is set to commence its run for premiership when the Zifa 2017 Central Region League commences in April.
Sources have since interpreted the move to mean that Nichrut will be playing top flight football in 2018. They also said Nyikadzino has also acquired some of the finest players to have played in the premiership.
“There is no other way bosses can express what they expect from you than give you a blank cheque to sign in players. We are sure that is what management is expecting which, therefore, leaves Nyikadzino with a big task ahead,” said a source.
Contacted for comment, Nyikadzino could neither accept nor deny reports that he has been given the green light to sign new players though he said he wants to finish the season at least in the top four.
“We are ready for the season; preparations are going on well and we have a strong team. Soccer is very competitive, we have high hopes. A finish in the top four will be good for us and anything more will be a welcome bonus,” said Nyikadzino.
Players who have since joined the Shurugwi outfit include former Hwange Colliery FC duo; Farai Vimbisai and David Boriwondo, Agrippa Peperere and Simon Maengeni who were on duty with Chapungu FC last season and former Dynamos FC forward; Aleck Marime.
Other players who have joined Nichrut FC are Vimbai Madamombe and Khamalongosh Chidzero who were with Whawha FC in 2015, former Platinum FC midfielder, Bastos Chihowa and Farai Masusunye who was with Boarder Strikers last season.
Meanwhile, Nichrut has impressed in its pre-season preparations; holding Dynamos to a 2-2 draw last month before clobbering Zifa Eastern Region side; Bikita Minerals, 4-1 at Peak Mine Stadium in Shurugwi recently.

22 March 2017, CHIVHU – A Chivhu sex worker, Tendai Sibanda, popularly known as Chicken, has gone on the run after learning that police are hunting for her in connection with a case involving sexual abuse of a fourteen-year-old boy.
Sibanda, who resides in J Extension, is suspected of having slept with the minor, who is doing Form Two, several times in the past three months.
She allegedly had sex with the minor, who is her neighbour; even though she knew that he was underage.
The boy’s mother told TellZim News she was disappointed that the person she trusted had abused her son.
“As the mother, I was hurt so much. A person who was that close to us, a neighbour doing such things to my son, it’s heart-breaking. I am also disappointed that she has not yet been caught despite our efforts to help the police in every way we could.
The sex worker’s mother is said to have once caught the two in a compromising position and warned her daughter to stop her liaisons with the minor but the two would again sneak around and have a ‘good’ time together.
Another neighbour who had become suspicious alerted the boy’s mother and upon being quizzed, the boy revealed everything leading to a police report being made.
The sex worker, however, fled the area as soon as she heard that the police were hot on her heels.local

ZVISHAVANE – The Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Walter Chidhakwa last week warned small scale miners commonly known as ‘makorokoza’ to get their act together and stop murdering each other.
Chidhakwa was speaking during the handover of tonnes of relief aid donated by Mimosa Mining Company to floods victims in Mberengwa and Zvishavane.
His remarks come in the wake of reports on bloody machete attacks pitting rival gold panning groups fighting to control disputed gold claims, leading the police in Kwekwe to impose a ban on the possession of machetes.
“We received a report in cabinet from state security on how people are engaging in violence and killing each other. It is also not just killing but kucheka-cheka afa sezvinonzi hazvina kukwana kumuuraya. Our chiefs are not happy with this.
“A cabinet committee has been set to make sure this comes to an end. Violence in the mining sector is very bad and I warn those doing that to stop it now. I will also be coming soon with the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of State Security and Minister of Defence to meet the political leadership and JOC so as to stump out this menace,” warned Chidhakwa.
Reports of bloody violence between rival groups of informal miners are not new, with Mberengwa, Gokwe and some parts of Kwekwe recording incidences of murder in the recent past.
In 2007, there were also reports of gruesome murders between camps of rival informal miners during the Chiyadzwa diamond rush.local

22 March 2017, MUTARE – Independent power producer, Nyangani Renewable Energy (NRE) is planning to electrify a total of 46 schools in Honde Valley under Mutasa Rural District Council (RDC) by 2018 Tellzim News has learnt.
Mutasa RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) George Bandure said the new hydro power station, which is currently generating 28 megawatts, is going to benefit the Honde Valley community through the electrification of local schools.
“As the local authority, we held meetings with the investors and looked into how we can make ZimAsset work for us. We are certain that 46 schools will have been electrified by 2018 as 34 schools have already been connected to the grid.
“The electrification of schools in Honde Valley is a good move that will develop our communities through the improvement of learning conditions,” Bandure said.
NRE runs small hydro-power stations including Pungwe, Nyamangura, Dururu that augment national power generating capacity and there are plans to build another one in Hauna.
Meanwhile, the RDC has also welcomed the move by members of Marange apostolic church to construct a school in Mutasa district.
“We appreciate their plans to construct a school here our district. This is a noble move because there are many members of the church in this area who will find a chance to have an education at a school that upholds the church’s own Christian values,” Bandure said.business,local

22 March 2017, MASVINGO – The Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Women’s League, fronted by chairperson Veronica Makonese and Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Shuvai Mahofa is leading the local chapter of a blistering campaign to have the league’s national treasurer, Sarah Mahoka and national deputy chairperson, Eunice Sandi-Moyo, fired from their positions for allegedly undermining First Lady Grace Mugabe.
Mahofa and Makonese, who for long have been sworn enemies, surprised many when they made up and led hundreds of women at Chief’s Hall demanding the ouster of Mahoka and Moyo from the national executive.
Protesters waved placards denouncing Mahoka and Moyo whom they labelled remnants of the maligned Gamatox faction which met its waterloo with the expulsion of Joice Mujuru from Zanu PF in 2014.
Addressing the protesters, Mahofa said she was solidly behind the campaign to oust Mahoka and Moyo “because they do not want the President and his wife Grace Mugabe.”

Makonese received a letter from the provincial women’s league where their demands on Mahoka and Makonese have been penned down and will be delivered to Harare.
“Makonese and Mahoka have become too big for themselves. They think they are bigger than the party so they should ship out.
“They do not respect the First Lady as their leader and they have been abusing her name to get funds which do not come to the league and they should just go. Their exit is long overdue and it’s time to crack a whip on them,” said Makonese.
The accusations against Mahoka come as a shock to many because she has been instrumental in defending the First Family against perceived succession ambitions by Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Sandi-Moyo’s has also been touted as a potential candidate for the presidium should Zanu PF reinstate a clause in its constitution which obligates one of the country’s two Vice Presidents to be a womanpolitics,topnews

21 March 2017, MWENEZI – Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) candidate for the pending Mwenezi East by-election Kudakwashe Bhasikiti-Chuma has threatened to pull out of the race citing gross intimidation of his supporters as well as vote-buying by the ruling party, Zanu PF.
Bhasikiti confirmed the development and insisted that he will withdraw from the race if the Zimbabwe Election Commission (ZEC) fails to act on the matter as soon as possible.
“We cannot continue to be used by ZEC to rubber-stamp fraudulent elections.  My supporters are being intimidated every day; they are being followed to their houses and threatened at night. We raised these issues with ZEC but nothing has been done so should we continue when my people are being harassed and intimidated?” said Bhasikiti.
Though Bhasikiti said he wanted to first consult with his ZimPF party leadership on the way forward, sources from his campaigning team confirmed that they have unanimously agreed to withdraw from the race.
“I am at my home as we are speaking right now; we agreed to pullout because our supporters are being harassed and intimidated. Bhasikiti will make an official statement tomorrow (Wednesday 22 March) but we have since stopped campaigning,” said the source.
Bhasikiti also accused the Zanu PF candidate Joosbi Omar of vote-buying and insisted that there was no point of participating in the elections if ZEC does not suspend him.
They are distributing government food aid and inputs in the name of Zanu PF. The Zanu PF candidate is engaging in vote buying and he must be disqualified. If ZEC fails to disqualify him then there is no reason for us to continue in these elections. We cannot continue to be used by ZEC to rub-stamp their fraudulent elections,” Bhasikiti said.
Addressing bishops and indigenous churches at Rutenga Primary School over the weekend, Omar, however, described Bhasikiti as a mad man and pleaded with men of the cloth to pray for the ZimPF candidate so the he may get back to his senses.
“Bhasikiti does not think properly and he needs prayers. I am using my resources to develop this area; we are repairing a bridge as well as grading dusty roads in the constituency. Bhasikiti has nothing to offer to the people except telling false stories,” said Omar.
ZimPF is however, expected to have a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) to deliberate on the matter and Bhasikiti would give an official statement thereafter.
Efforts to get comment from ZEC provincial officer Zex Pudurai were fruitless as his mobile went unanswered by the time of going to print.politics,topnews

Mapombi never wanted to dabble in politics but this ever dwindling economy has forced her to do so. Now I can safely say I understand Zimbabwean politics – from Runaida Joice Mujuru, ZimPF Mutasa, MDC – Tsvangirai, Zanu PF Lacoste to Zanu PF Gushungo’s Generation 40 (G40). Even those individual political parties dzandisina kudoma nemazita ndava kudziziva.
Mapombi can safely tell you that they are only two powerful politicians in Zimbabwe – the 93-year-old Robert Gabriel Mugabe and Richard Morgan Tsvangirai. The rest ndivana gudzamudungwe. Yes, they are there just to add numbers – I mean the likes of Egypt Dzinemunhenzva, Elton Mangoma, Jacob Ngarivhume, Simba Makoni, Dumiso Dabengwa and Tendai Biti – haaa the list is too big.
But people will never learn, Mapombi thought this Biti guy would learn from the blunders that were made by Welshman Ncube and company, Job Sikhala of MDC 99 and others.  It’s only Tsvangirai who has a big following when we talk of opposition politics. Even when we talk of mabhebhi ndiye chete ane hobho and no one else kkkkkk. But Moregirls futi so ma1 ndofunga mai vake havana kumusvinira mukaka muchinda uyu kkkkkk.
Anyway, zvekuda vakadzi izvi hatingazvipedze; after all, haasiye atanga nazvo izvi kuZanu PF it’s even worse varume vakuru vanoramba vakadzi vachena misoro kusanyara. Look at Chombo, Bright Matonga nana nhingi uyu – nyarai mhani madhara imi makaita seiko?
The point I was trying to drive home is Biti should have learnt from the mistakes that were done by some guys who deserted Tsvangirai and tried to form their own political parties. Or should I say vakasara nezita rekuti MDC but they later realised that they had no grassroots support.
Biti thought having connections to the donors is everything one needs to lead a political party forgetting that one should have support of the grassroots. Mapombi read an article recently where Biti was trying to find common ground with Tsvangirai saying he had no issues with the former Prime Minister. Kkkkkkk vana Biti vangu iwe – it’s cold out there. Politics is not as easy as eating oranges kkkkkk. Anyway, Mapombi is very sure there is no love lost between Biti and Tsvangirai – I think havana kumbobvira vafarirana vanhu ava. They only work together for the sake of progress. But at least you now know that politics hadzinei nekudzidza but kudiwa nevanhu chete chete. Whether you are a lawyer contesting against a former mine worker, unogona kungodyiwa nedofo iroro zvakangodaro.
The honest truth is that it’s too little too late for Biti to start to find common ground with Tsvangirai at the moment. Chinokanganwa idemo chitsiga chakatemewa hachikanganwe. Not so long Biti attacked Tsvangirai after their attempt to woo him to South Africa to be part of their Code agreement failed. Now you want to make it seem as if there are no issues. Kwava kuda kuteya coalition ka uku? Kuda kutaimira mafufu segonzo.
Anyway, Tsvangirai is very understanding; he will accommodate anyone pacoalition. Hanzi chenga ose manhanga hapana risina modzi but don’t expect any powerful position please lest you will be very disappointed. I am sure Mapombi’s advice is very important Mr Biti so that we avoid zvirwere zvakaita senge BP.
Mapombi heard Muzukuru Joosbi Omar waenda nechinhu paMwenezi East apo. By the way, is Dr Amai not coming to Mwenezi East for a star rally? Mapombi was really expecting her mhani. I know she would tear apart Team Lacoste kunyanya kaChadzamira ikaka, kaisiiwa kaita mushe. Dr Amai is one person I rely on kana dzasvika nyaya dzekutukirira manje. Growing up in rural Gokwe, 21-year-old Takawira never thought she would end up in a field traditionally regarded as masculine. Takawira recalls the days when many villagers would give any visitor their CVs with the hope of finding economic opportunities in the urban areas.
Now on industrial attachment in Shurugwi, she has high hopes that after training, she will secure employment in one of the mines around the area.
Takawira encourages young women to consider careers in the automotive industry and break the traditional gender roles that are ascribed by society and reinforced by the media.
"You need to have self-confidence and you have to sacrifice, you have to be aggressive and ambitious. I have had people peep through the door and ask, is that a woman working on a car? But I am glad I haven’t been looked down upon," Takawira says.

There is no doubt that women face gender-based stereotypes and prejudices but those like Takawira are helping to destroy those barriers through hard work and determination. With dedicated and committed women, society’s perception of women will change and barriers will fall.business

As leader of the country’s sole fixed-line telecommunication services provider, Mtasa is an inspiration to many women who regard the sky as their only limit. She is an inspiration to young professional women aspiring to break the barriers imposed by patriarchy by assuming leadership positions.
She is an embodiment of evidence to the effect that leadership comes with merit and not one’s biological make-up. Mtasa likes to encourage young women and girls to have confidence and self-belief in order to beat the negative stereotypes about women’s capabilities.
Focused, consistent and result-oriented are some of the words that best describe the lady who is ready to take on challenges as they came.
Young women and girls, Mtasa says, should look at challenges as opportunities and work to come out of any problems as better people.
In order to remain relevant in the telecoms industry, she says, there is need to develop new mechanisms and innovations because the industry is becoming increasingly dynamic.

20 March 20217, MASVINGO – Masvingo Rotary Club in conjunction with Book Aid International on Monday donated medical school textbooks to Morgenster Hospital School of Nursing as a way of fulfilling their mandate of serving communities.
The donation followed engagements with Book Aid International after the club had noticed that there was an acute shortage of such literature.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Masvingo Rotary Club president, Brian Bhiza, praised efforts being made by club members to make a difference.
“As Masvingo Rotary Club, we are glad give this consignment to the school of nursing. We know that it will go a long way in helping the hospital.
“We are also happy to partner Book Aid International and other organisations to serve communities. These organisations work with us very well because of our track record of transparency,” Bhiza said.
Provincial health promotions officer, Casper Nhemachena, who represented the Provincial Medical Director (PMD) at the ceremony, thanked Masvingo Rotary Club for remembering Morgenster Hospital.
“We are happy that we have been remembered. The books that the school got today will be of great importance to students and their tutors.
“We plead with them to keep on supporting not only Morgenster Hospital but other hospitals in our province,” he said.
Rotary International District 9210 governor; Lee Ann Shearing, Morgenster Hospital Medical Superintendent; Dr Tafadzwa Muchengwa, Masvingo Rotary Club director of club services; Sam Muzvanya, hospital staff and students attended the event.
