MASVINGO-Rufaro Starlets delivered one of their most convincing performances of the season
after cruising to a commanding 5-0 victory over Ngezi Platinum Queens in the Zimbabwe
Women’s Premier Soccer League match at Mucheke Stadium today on July 29, 2026 extending
their winning run to two matches.
The Masvingo-based outfit dominated from the opening whistle and put the game beyond the
visitors before the halftime break with four unanswered goals.
Privilege Magagani stole the spotlight with a quickfire brace, finding the back of the net in the
32nd and 35th minutes as Rufaro Starlets tightened their grip on the contest.
The hosts continued to dictate the pace in the second half, creating several scoring opportunities
before Claudette Muchenje completed the rout with a powerful strike in the 80th minute to seal
the emphatic 5-0 victory.
The result comes just days after Rufaro Starlets edged Cranborne Royals 1-0 away at 1
Commando Stadium on Matchday 14, highlighting the team’s growing confidence and improving
form. Having scored six goals while keeping two clean sheets in their last two matches, the
Starlets appear to be gathering momentum at a crucial stage of the season.
Head coach Langton Giwa praised his players for executing the game plan and maintaining their
intensity throughout the match.
“I am delighted with the performance from the girls. We spoke before the match about starting
strongly and being clinical in front of goal, and they delivered exactly that. Scoring four goals
before halftime gave us confidence and allowed us to control the game,” said Giwa.
He said the successive victories reflect the hard work the team has been putting in on the training
ground.
“The win over Cranborne Royals gave us belief, and today’s performance shows that we are
improving with every match. We are creating chances, defending well and playing as a unit. We
will celebrate this result, but our focus remains on the next game because there is still a long way
to go this season.”
