Mucheke youth based Scorpions Cricket Club is set to raise its flag high once more at the National Premier League slated for July 12, 2023 where it will host some of the games at Masvingo Sports Club.
The scorpions will represent the province following a remarkable win in the Masvingo Cricket Association tournament where it shrouded the stiff competition from Lowveld Warthogs, Knights and Poly Panthers.
SCC Chairperson Nelson Chimbirimbiri confirmed the news to TellZim and said the tournament is expected to start mid-July where the team will meet 12 others teams from all over the provinces in the country.
“There will be a tournament in mid-July soon after the qualifiers for the World cup, where SCC will be playing against 12 other teams from across Zimbabwe,” said Chimbirimbiri.
Chimbirimbiri however said the club is calling for sponsors ahead of the tournament as the club is self-sponsored.
“The NPL is a great opportunity for us and we call for businesses to support this worthy cause by helping us with refreshments, transport for away matches, lunches and refurbishing of terraces at our home ground,” said Chimbirimbiri.
The club’s mission is to provide a platform and pathway for international cricket for aspiring cricketers as well as amusement for the Masvingo community and the country at large.
Chimbirimbiri promised yet another delight and great win from the club in this season.
Some of the games will be played in Kwekwe, Mutare, Harare, Masvingo and Bulawayo.
