25 March 2017, MASVINGO – The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church health expo has kicked off at the Civic Centre grounds where many people are getting free medical help.
The week-long expo is aimed at providing free medical check-ups and medical testing for various ailments including dental and optical services.
Scores of people have been braving the chilly and wet conditions experienced earlier this week to seek medical help.
Speaking to TellZim News, SDA national health director, Dr Douglas Mutanga, said the initiative was an important programme to assist the community.
“We are quite happy with the people’s response to our call. We encountered a few hiccups on the way but everything is going on well now.
“This is a good initiative that the church has made so we encourage people to take advantage to learn more about their health as well as how they can best live their lives without putting their health at risk,” Dr Mutanga said.
At the expo, people get health tips before proceeding to see various specialists for treatment and medication.
By the time of writing, Health and Child Care minister Dr David Parirenyatwa was expected to officially open the health expo.health
