ZVISHAVANE – Former Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Shabanie FC dismissed Tongogara FC by two goals to one in a thrilling Zifa Central Region Division One League match played at Maglass Stadium over the weekend.
The win saw Bvaru-Bvaru, as Shabanie is affectionately known by its legion of fans, going up the ladder to lead the Central region log standings and ignited hope for another dance in the top flight league next season.
Tongogara FC was the first to score in the early minutes of the first half but Shabanie FC came back rejuvenated after the oranges and netted two to seal the victory.
Shabanie FC coach Tendai Chikuni hailed his boys for maintaining the winning formula they recently discovered.
“Our boys played well and Im happy we have maintained the winning formula we recently discovered. Tongogara is a strong team but we managed to convert all the chances we got. We have played 16 games so far and I can say this was our best game this season. We are going to take the positives from this game and build from there,” said Chikuni.
He said experienced players like former Warriors defender Zvenyika Makonese added value to the team.
Tongogara FC coach Ignatius Kapitapita conceded defeat saying they lost to a better side.
“We lost to a better team; we are happy with the result. In the game of football you either win, lose or draw but we have to remain focused. Our focus now is on our next game,” said Kapitapita.news
