Sheasham FC targets PSL return

Gweru- The recently appointed director of football for Sheasham Football Club, Wonder Chaka has shared insights into the club’s strategic direction and ambitions for the future saying the team’s major aim was to return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
He said to achieve the dream, he will target various facets of the club’s operations, ranging from player management to community engagement initiatives.
Chaka who had a stint with ZimAlloys, Rio Tinto and now leads the Central Region Soccer league team highlighted the importance of strategic planning to ensure the team’s success.
“I am very grateful on my recent appointment as the director and I promise to push the club to success. To get results I will provide support to coaches, offering guidance in player development, tactical analysis, and goal setting. This comprehensive approach will alleviate pressure on coaches and facilitate a conducive environment for player growth and team success.
“Our clear vision for the club’s future is the objective of returning to the Premier League. We intend to bolster the club’s roster with players from the Midlands region, including those from local schools and academies. This grassroots approach aims to strengthen the club’s connection to the community while also fostering a sense of pride and ownership among local supporters,” said Chaka.
He went on to praise Sheasham Gweru Queens Coach, Gibson Matemera for his commendable efforts towards uplifting women’s team.
“We remain committed to excellence and a determination to remain competitive in the Premier League. With a focus on talent development, community engagement, and strategic planning.
“Coach Matemera has been instrumental with our women team; we believe he will push the club and what is need is partnership between our stakeholders and their club so that we support our players with all the resources they need,” said Chaka.
The Club’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sibongubukhosi Zikhali expressed confidence in undertaking the responsibilities that comes with her new role.
“My target is to move toward supporting the empowerment of women and the girl child through sports, my vision is on motivation and support for young female athletes. Women should be included in sport to provide opportunities that comes with it for a better livelihood.
“I as the new CEO acknowledges the importance of accountability as I am committed to making informed decisions,” said Zikhali.
The unveiling of the new secretariat signals a new chapter for Sheasham Football Club with expectations of taking the Sheasham brand to another level.
