MASVINGO – Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has officially opened its Masvingo Branch, marking an
important chapter in its continued efforts to make exceptional financial services more accessible
to the people, enterprises and communities of Masvingo and the surrounding areas.
The Branch which is locate at N-Richards Complex, near Econet Shop along Robert Mugabe
Way offers full personal and business banking, counter services and a 24/7 ATM and Bulk Cash
Deposit Machine.
The official opening that took place on September 23, was attended by government
representatives, business leaders, valued clients, Stanbic Bank Board Member Valentine
Mushayakarara, Chief Executive Solomon Nyanhongo and EXCO members.
Speaking at the event, Stanbic Bank Head of Personal and Private Banking, Nelson Muhau, said
expanding the institution’s footprint in Masvingo enables it to contribute more meaningfully to
the progress of the local business community.
“It also demonstrates Stanbic Bank’s dedication to broadening financial access, enabling
enterprise development and offering convenient, forward-looking banking solutions,” said
Muhau.
The opening of the Masvingo Branch comes hard on the heels of the opening of the Chiredzi
Branch early this month. Muhau said the Standard Bank Group subsidiary appreciates
Masvingo’s strategic contribution to Zimbabwe’s commercial and industrial sectors, hence its
presence places it closer to the individuals and businesses shaping the region’s economic future
and allows it to serve them with greater responsiveness, insight and care.
He said the Masvingo Branch, which opened its doors for operation on December 1, 2025, brings
Stanbic Bank’s national branch network to 20, all served by a combined 55 ATMs.
“The opening represents a renewed commitment to build enduring relationships, understand the
aspirations of our clients and provide relevant financial solutions that help them advance. At

In a speech read on his behalf by the Director of Economic Affairs and Investments for
Masvingo Province, Clever Chingwara, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution
Ezra Chadzamira said the opening of the Masvingo Branch was a significant vote of confidence
in the future of Masvingo Province and in the potential of its people, businesses and institutions.
“On behalf of the Government of Zimbabwe and the people of Masvingo Province, I
congratulate Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe on this important investment. The establishment of this
modern banking facility demonstrates confidence in our province’s economic prospects and
reinforces the critical role that financial institutions play in driving economic growth, investment
and development,” said Chadzamira.
He said for centuries, Great Zimbabwe has been a centre of commerce, connecting local traders
to regional and international markets, adding that the event was a reminder that enterprise,
entrepreneurship and trade have always been part of the heritage of the province.
Chadzamira said Masvingo continues to evolve as an important centre of economic activity. The
city attained city status in 2002, marking a significant milestone in its growth and development.
Since then, it has continued to expand as an administrative, commercial and tourism hub, serving
not only the province but the broader southern region of Zimbabwe.
He said with a provincial population exceeding 1.6 million people, Masvingo presents enormous
opportunities for economic growth and financial inclusion, supported by agriculture, mining,
tourism, manufacturing, commerce and an expanding small-to-medium enterprise sector.
“To the business community of Masvingo, I urge you to take full advantage of the opportunities
that this investment presents. Strong partnerships between financial institutions and businesses
are essential for driving production, increasing exports, creating employment and supporting
entrepreneurship,” said Chadzamira.
