17 March 2017, ZAKA – A Form Three pupil at Zibwowa Secondary School was seriously injured after being attacked by a stray buffalo on Tuesday mid-morning.
Maxwell Ranjisi was attacked by the buffalo which mysteriously found its way to the school yard during break-time and was immediately rushed to Zibwowa Clinic for treatment.
A teacher at the school confirmed the development and said Ranjisi is now in a stable condition.
“Pupils were playing during break-time and the buffalo appeared from nowhere and attacked the boy before it was scared away by other pupils. We rushed him to the hospital and he is in a stable condition,” said the teacher.
Efforts to get comment from  Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority (Zimparks) national spokesperson Caroline Washaya-Moyo were fruitless by the time of going to press as her mobile was not reachable.
It could not be ascertained where the buffalo could have come from by the time of going to print. In 2002, another stray buffalo attacked and killed a man from Murerezi area.local
