CHIPINGE – Many people converged at different congregations of the United Church of Christ (UCCZ) to celebrate Easter last week, with the preceding Palm Sunday attracting even bigger crowds of both the young and the old.
UCCZ cleric, Rodrick Nerah, of Chikore Mission Circuit, said he was pleased by the zeal that existed among the faithful to honour the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“The whole Easter is very important beginning with Palm Sunday and we saw many of our congregants coming to celebrate the event. The whole day was filled with symbolism and we thank God everything went well with our congregants showing their desire to please God.
“We believe that if you do righteous deeds as taught by the Lord, your soul will also go to heaven and you will have eternal life after death,” said Nerah.
He encouraged UCCZ followers to keep doing good all the time so that their faith can be strengthened.
“We don’t want to be seen as people who only try to do what is right during the Easter holidays but we want to always be good people throughout the year. We must be good neighbours and we must love one another as well as forgive each other just as our Lord Jesus Christ taught us,” said Nerah.
