Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa urged businesses and private companies in Zimbabwe to emulate Mangwa Quip and be able to develop their areas as well creating employment for locals.
Speaking after a tour of Nandi Estate which was revamped by Mangwa Quip in Chiredzi recently, Mnangagwa said the Lowveld was likely going to be the bread basket of Zimbabwe, thanks to the efforts by Chiredzi East legislator Denford Masiya who is the Director of Mangwa Quip.
Mnangagwa showered praises on Masiya, saying if more farmers and business people with his spirit could be found, Chiredzi Zimbabwe will never import food from other countries.
“Let us have more people like Masiya; look how this Estate which has been lying fallow for close to five years has developed in less than one year,” said Mnangagwa at a colourful event held at Nandi Estate last year.
Mnangagwa said government was determined to develop Chiredzi and Mwenezi through full utilisation of water bodies, saying government will provide the necessary equipment.
“The government is committed to the development of these two districts. The farming equipment which will be provided will be paid for over a specific period,” said Mnangagwa.
Masiya, however, said Mangwa Quip was determined to improve the livelihood of the people of Zimbabwe through transforming Chiredzi into a green belt of the country.
With the necessary support from both government and relevant authorities, Masiya said his organisation had the capacity to provide food security for the entire country.
“Chiredzi can be a green belt of Masvingo Province or even Zimbabwe because the area is blessed with many flat lands, good weather and many wetlands. There are many unused water bodies which when utilised will turn Chiredzi into the bread basket of Zimbabwe. I want to assure you that as Mangwa Quip, we have the capacity to boost the country’s food security,” said Masiya.business
