… donates to
Idai flood victims

BIKITA – The Zion
Apostolic Church (ZAC) 1923 last week launched a clean-up campaign around its
headquarters at Moriah Village in Chikuku under Chief Budzi in Bikita.
The clean-up was
led by the church’s national chairlady Magreth Muza and Chiedza Masuka who is
wife to Arch Bishop Felix Masuka.
ZAC 1923
national chairperson Robson Mavenyengwa said the campaign was organised by female
congregants and was aimed at making sure that the headquarters area was kept clean
all the time especially during Passover when thousands of congregants gather.
“When a lot of
people gather, there is a possibility of disease outbreaks so we didn’t want
that to happen during our Passover. That is why female church members decided
to do a clean-up exercise at the shrine.
“Amai also
wanted to use the exercise to encourage women to practise hygiene in their
respective homes and churches all the time,” said Mavhenyengwa, who is the
Member of Parliament (MP) for Zaka North.
Mavenyengwa
thanked the Environmental Management Agency (Ema) for providing such equipment
gloves, plastic bags and brooms that were used during the clean-up exercise.
He said the
exercise was going to be a continuous programme whenever people gathered for
church services.
“The Bible says
cleanliness is closer to Godliness, so we have to make sure that our places of
worship are kept clean all the time. We will therefore make similar
atrangements whenever we meet,” said Mavenyengwa.
The church also
gathered such items as clothes, blankets and kitchen utensils for distribution
to local victims of Cyclone Idai.
